Emu Plains JRLFC
The Emu Plains JRLFC, colloquially known as just ''Emu'', is a Rugby league club in the Penrith, New South Wales District. The club fields both Junior and Senior teams with players starting as early as 4 years old. The club colours are red, white and blue. History Although officially formed in 1967, the club was around as early as 1912. The first evidence of rugby league in Penrith comes from newspaper reports in April 1912 of a match between ‘Glenbrook Rovers' and a combined ‘Penrith and Emus' team at the Penrith Showground. Known as the Emu Wanderers, they joined the Western Districts Junior League. It included teams from Parramatta, Auburn and Lidcombe. In 1913, the Western Districts entered a team in the Presidents Cup competition. Leonay, New South Wales
Leonay is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 58 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the Local government in Australia, local government area of the City of Penrith. Tim Sheens
Tim Sheens (born 30 October 1950) is an Australian professional rugby league football coach and former player. Head Coach of the Australia national team between 2009 and 2015, he has also been the head coach of National Rugby League (NRL) clubs, the Penrith Panthers, the Canberra Raiders, the North Queensland Cowboys and the Wests Tigers. As a player, Sheens was a prop forward with Sydney's Penrith club in the 1970s and 1980s before he retired and became their coach. Sheens returned to the Wests Tigers in 2021 as the Head of Football Operations. He then coached the Raiders, taking them to victory in the 1989, 1990 and 1994 premierships. With the Tigers he won the 2005 premiership. Sheens also set a new record for most games in Australian rugby league premiership history and also coached the New South Wales Blues for the 1991 State of Origin series. Colin Van Der Voort
Colin van der Voort (born 13 July 1965) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played in the New South Wales Rugby League's Winfield Cup Premiership with the Penrith Panthers from 1986 to 1994 and was a member of the club's grand final-winning team in the 1991 season. Playing career He made his first grade debut for Penrith in round 11 1986 against the Illawarra Steelers at Penrith Park. He missed Penrith's 1990 Grand Final appearance due to injury. Peter Kelly (born 17 September 1959) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. Originating from the New South Wales south coast town of Eden, he played front-row forward in the NSWRL Premiership for Newtown, Canterbury-Bankstown and the Penrith Panthers. A noted "hard man" he won two premierships with Canterbury and was a two-time New South Wales State of Origin representative. The City of Penrith is a local government area in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The seat of the city is located in Penrith, located about west of Sydney's central business district. It occupies part of the traditional lands of the Darug people.
