Emotions (Pretty Things Album)
''Emotions'' is the third album by the English rock group Pretty Things, released in 1967. Recording The sessions for ''Emotions'' were spread across a few months during which there were major changes in the band's line up. Their record company Fontana had not been happy with how their three 1966 singles "Midnight to Six Man", "Come See Me" and "A House in the Country" had sold. For the latter single, Fontana assigned them producer Steve Rowland who was producing hits for Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich hoping that Rowland would help the band regain a commercial sound to improve sales. The band were not pleased by this intervention and were keen to leave Fontana, so they simply went along with Fontana's demands to fulfil the contract which included a third album. Pretty Things
The Pretty Things were an English band formed in September 1963 in Sidcup, Kent. They took their name from Willie Dixon's 1955 song "Pretty Thing". A pure rhythm and blues band in their early years, with several singles charting in the United Kingdom, they later embraced other genres such as psychedelic rock in the late 1960s (with 1968's ''S.F. Sorrow'' being one of the first rock operas), hard rock in the early 1970s and new wave in the early 1980s. Despite this, they never managed to recapture the same level of commercial success of their early releases. The Beach Boys are an American Rock music, rock band that formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. Gregory Bowen (''né'' Gregory Emmanuel Cole Bowen, May 3, 1943) is a Welsh trumpet player. His primary work was done in London before relocating to Berlin, Germany in 1976. Marie Goossens
Marie Henriette Goossens (11 August 1894 - 18 December 1991) was an English harpist, a member of the famous Goossens musical family and the older sister of Sidonie Goossens, also a harpist. Born in London, she was taught at the Royal College of Music by Miriam Timothy and made her professional debut as a harpist in Liverpool in 1910. After playing for Diaghilev's Ballet Russes at Covent Garden in 1919 she became principal harpist with Thomas Beecham's Queen's Hall Orchestra between 1920 and 1930, during which time she also played as a soloist and early recording artist. In 1926 she married Frederick Laurence, initially a composer and musical advisor to EMI who ended up as the impoverished librarian of the Proms and personnel manager for the Royal Philharmonic and the London Philharmonic Orchestras. John Stax
John Stax (born John Edward Lee Fullagar, 6 April 1944, Crayford, Kent) is an English musician best known as original bassist for the Pretty Things. He adopted the name "Stax" because of his fondness for the music produced by Stax Records. He played on all of their charting singles, which included " Rosalyn," "Don't Bring Me Down," " Road Runner," and "Cry to Me." Dick Taylor
Richard Clifford Taylor (born 28 January 1943) is an English musician, best known as the guitarist and founding member of the Pretty Things. Taylor was an early bassist for the Rolling Stones, but left the band to resume his studies at Sidcup Art College. While there he formed the Pretty Things in September 1963.
