Emmanuel Katongole (theologian)
Emmanuel Katongole (born 27 November 1960) is a Ugandan Catholic priest and theologian known for his work on violence and politics in Africa and Reconciliation theology, theology of reconciliation. Biography Katongole was born in Malube, Uganda, Malube, Uganda, to Anthony Bukerimanza and Magdalene Nyiraruhango. His father, a Tutsi, and his mother, a Hutu, were both originally from Rwanda but moved to Uganda in the 1950s. Intent on going into the Priesthood in the Catholic Church, priesthood, Katongole began studies in 1980 in philosophy at Katigondo National Major Seminary, followed by theology at Gaba National Seminary. After his seminary education, he was ordained into the priesthood in June 1987. He later pursued further studies at the Catholic University of Louvain, ultimately completing a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD in philosophy in 1996. The Reverend
The Reverend is an style (manner of address), honorific style most often placed before the names of Christian clergy and Minister of religion, ministers. There are sometimes differences in the way the style is used in different countries and church traditions. ''The Reverend'' is correctly called a ''style'' but is often and in some dictionaries called a title, form of address, or title of respect. The style is also sometimes used by leaders in other religions such as Judaism and Buddhism. The term is an anglicisation of the Latin ''reverendus'', the style originally used in Latin documents in medieval Europe. It is the gerundive or future passive participle of the verb ''revereri'' ("to respect; to revere"), meaning "[one who is] to be revered/must be respected".
