Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). World Bowls Championship
The World Bowls Championship is the premier world bowls competition between national bowls organisations. The premier indoor event is the World Indoor Bowls Championships listed separately and is organised by the World Bowls Tour. World Outdoor Championships First held in Australia in 1966, the World Outdoor Bowls Championships for men and women are held every four years. From 2008 the men's and women's events were held together. Qualifying national bowls organisations (usually countries) are represented by a team of five players, who play once as a single and a four, then again as a pair and a triple. Kathy Pearce
Katharine Anne Pearce (born 16 February 1963) is a Welsh international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Pearce from Berriew, Welshpool won the triples gold medal and fours silver medal at the 1997 Atlantic Bowls Championships In Llandrindod wells. In 2004 she won a bronze medal at the 2004 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in the fours and in 2007 won the triples silver medal at the Atlantic Championships. The following year she won another World bronze at the 2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. Also, in 2008 she won the World Singles Champion of Champions event gold medal defeating Lorraine Malloy of Scotland in the final at Aberdeen. In 2009 she won the singles silver medal and the triples gold medal at the Atlantic Championships in Johannesburg. Anwen Butten
Margaret Anwen Butten (born 29 August 1972 in Carmarthen) is a Welsh international Bowls competitor for Wales. Bowls career Her passion for bowls began at the age of 13 after watching her Mother play for the Welsh International team. Seeing her mother play inspired her to play. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games she won a bronze medal along with Joanna Weale in the women's pairs event. Butten competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne but was unsuccessful in winning a medal. In 2007 she won the triples silver medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and followed this with a fours gold medal in Johannesburg two years later (2009). She then competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games along with Hannah Smith in the women's pairs and won a bronze medal.
