Emma White (cyclist)
Emma White (born August 23, 1997) is an American former professional racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Women's Continental Team . Biography The sister of fellow racing cyclist Curtis White, Emma started cycle racing at the age of nine, initially in cyclo-cross. She had already taken up horse riding early in her childhood, and continued to pursue this alongside cycling until the age of 16. She won three consecutive national junior cyclo-cross championships in the 13-14 and 15-16 age groups between 2011 and 2013 before winning the 17-18 junior title in 2015. She also enjoyed a successful junior career on the road, winning consecutive national junior time trial championships in different age groups in 2013 and 2014 and the national junior criterium championship in 2015, as well as taking two silver medals at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships. Duanesburg, New York
Duanesburg is a Administrative divisions of New York#Town, town in Schenectady County, New York, Schenectady County, New York (state), New York, United States. The population was 6,122 at the 2010 census. Duanesburg is named for James Duane, who held most of it as an original land grant. The town is in the western part of the county. Gary Sutton
Gary Sutton (born 27 March 1955) is a cycling coach and a former professional racing cyclist. In 1980, Sutton became the amateur World Champion in the Points Race. Sutton was born in Moree, New South Wales. He competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics and the 1980 Summer Olympics. He was one of the four men to win gold in the team pursuit for Australia at the 1978 Commonwealth Games along with his brother, Shane Sutton, who has worked as National Technical Director for British Cycling. Gary is also the father of Christopher Sutton, a professional racing cyclist. After retiring from competition, Sutton became a coach, spending 26 years as a national coach with Cycling Australia. In May 2017, it was announced that Cycling Australia would not renew the contract for his position as women's endurance coach beyond the end of June. The women's team pursuit event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 2 and 3 August 2021 at the Izu Velodrome. 32 cyclists (8 teams of 4) from 8 nations competed. Background This will be the 3rd appearance of the event, which has been held at every Summer Olympics since its introduction in 2012. The reigning Olympic champions are Katie Archibald, Laura Kenny, Elinor Barker, and Joanna Rowsell Shand of Great Britain; Great Britain has won both prior Olympic events (with Kenny and Rowsell Shand on both teams). Rainbow Jersey
The rainbow jersey is the distinctive jersey worn by the reigning world champion in a cycling discipline, since 1927. The jersey is predominantly white with five horizontal bands in the UCI colours around the chest. From the bottom up the colours are: green, yellow, black, red and blue; the same colours that appear in the rings on the Olympic flag. The tradition is applied to all disciplines, including road racing, track racing, cyclo-cross, BMX, Trials and the disciplines within mountain biking. A world champion must wear the jersey when competing in the same discipline, category and speciality for which the title was won. Jennifer Marie Valente (born December 24, 1994) is an American professional racing cyclist who is the gold medal winner of the women's omnium at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Valente has ridden for UCI Women's Team . She has won multiple gold medals in team pursuit championships, and won an Olympic silver medal in the team pursuit in 2016. Career She enjoyed a successful junior career, winning 12 national titles and one world junior title. At the 2011 and 2012 UCI Junior Track World Championships she won three medals, a gold medal in the scratch race and two bronze medals in the keirin. Chloé Dygert (born January 1, 1997) is an American professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She has won seven gold medals at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships and a silver medal at the Olympic Games. She also won the Women's junior road race and Women's junior time trial at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships. Career Chloé Dygert was athletic from childhood on and played mainly basketball in her early years. However, she did not take cycling seriously until after a shoulder injury in 2013. United States National Road Race Championships
The United States National Professional Road Race Championships began in 1985. They are run by the governing body, USA Cycling. Until 2006 the race was open to all nationalities, the first American to finish being named the winner and given a distinctive jersey. Since the championship in Greenville, South Carolina, in 2006, all riders have had to be American. Before 1985, only the amateur champions were named. From 1921 to 1964, the Amateur Bicycle League of America (ABLA) National Championships were held as an omnium of track-style events for Men, Women, and Juniors, rather than as a road race. In 1964 the American Cycling Newsletter (later Bicycling) reported the results of a Flemington, NJ race as the national road racing championships, but these results do not appear in the USA Cycling list of winners. Kelly Catlin
Kelly Catlin (November 3, 1995 – March 7, 2019) was an American professional racing cyclist who rode for UCI Women's Team . Catlin won gold medals in the women's team pursuit at the 2016, 2017, and 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. She also won a silver medal in the same event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Biography Catlin was born in St. Paul, Minnesota; she was a triplet, with a brother and sister. She earned a degree in mathematics and Chinese from the University of Minnesota, and was studying at Stanford University for a graduate degree in computational and mathematical engineering. In addition to her career as a professional road cyclist, Catlin was an artist and a violinist. Catlin died on March 7, 2019, at Stanford University following an episode of depression.
