Emma Logan
Emma Logan (born August 11, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She currently plays lead on Team Jessica Daigle. She is the niece of five time Scotties champion Mary-Anne Arsenault. She is also deaf. Career Logan skipped the St. Francis Xavier University team at the 2017 U Sports/Curling Canada University Championships in Thunder Bay, Ontario where the team went 3–4. She joined her aunt Mary-Anne Arsenault's team as alternate for the 2018–19 season. They lost the final of the 2019 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts to Jill Brothers 6–5. The following season, Kristin Clarke left the team and Logan moved up to lead. Team Arsenault won The Curling Store Cashspiel on the World Curling Tour, going undefeated through the tournament. They also played in the Tour Challenge Tier 2 Grand Slam event where they went 2–2. The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Teams earned points in every event with the top 30 qualifying for the season ending " V.O. Cup", today known as the Players' Championship. Its first president and CEO was Lukowich. Sarah Murphy (curler)
Sarah Murphy (born July 28, 1986 as Sarah Rhyno) is a Canadian curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is a two-time Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion. Career Murphy made her first national appearance at the 2006 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, skipping the Nova Scotia team. After a 7–4 round robin record, her team defeated Northern Ontario in the tiebreaker before losing to Manitoba to claim the bronze medal. Team Murphy (Rhyno at the time) qualified for their first Grand Slam of Curling event at the 2007 Sobeys Slam, going 0–3 in the triple knockout event. In 2010, her team qualified for the playoffs at the 2010 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts where they lost in the semifinal to eventual champion Nancy McConnery. 2021 Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship, was held from February 19 to 28 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. The winning Kerri Einarson team represented Canada at the 2021 World Women's Curling Championship. The world championship was supposed to be held at the Curlinghalle Schaffhausen in Schaffhausen, Switzerland; however, the event was cancelled and rescheduled to the "Calgary bubble" of the Markin MacPhail Centre. The event was originally scheduled to be held in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, it was announced that most Curling Canada championships still being held in the 2020–21 curling season would be moved to a centralized "bubble" (similar to that of the NHL as in Edmonton) at Canada Olympic Park. COVID-19 Pandemic In Nova Scotia
The COVID-19 pandemic in Nova Scotia is an ongoing viral pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a novel infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). On March 15, 2020, three presumptive cases in Nova Scotia were announced. All three were travel-related. The province is amongst four provinces in the Atlantic Bubble, along with New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador which have reported a significantly smaller portion of cases during the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. However, the bubble was suspended in November 2020 due to rising case counts in all four provinces. It was reintroduced in the Spring 2021, but suspended again in the Fall of 2021. Corryn Brown
Corryn Cecile Brown (born July 19, 1995) is a Canadian curler from British Columbia. She currently skips her own team out of Kamloops. Career She was the skip of the winning team at the 2013 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, and represented Canada at the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships, where she placed 9th. Brown also represented Canada at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics where she won a bronze medal. She also won a gold medal at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. Brown and her team competed once again at the 2015 Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, where they won the bronze medal after losing to Ontario in the semi-finals 9–4. The 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship, was held from February 15 to 23 at Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
