Emma Kolbe
Emma Eliza Coe (September 26, 1850, in Apia – 1913, in Monte Carlo) was a noteworthy businesswoman and plantation owner of mixed American/ Samoan descent, also known as Emma Forsayth, Emma Farrell, and Emma Kolbe. Biography Emma Coe was born in what is now American Samoa to Jonas Myndersse Coe, a US commercial representative, and Joana Talelatale, a Samoan belonging to the Malietoa dynasty. Her mother’s bloodline was related to the Moli tribe, and Emma was recognized by the Malietoa as a princess. In 1869, she married James Forsayth, a Scottish seaman, and they set up a shipping and trading business in American Samoa. Emma Coe participated in island politics with her father but fell out of favor with the local population after he was deported in 1876. Around this time, her husband was said to be lost at sea, but there was no confirmation that he was dead. August Engelhardt (27 November 1875 – 6 May 1919) was a German author and founder of a sect of sun worshipers. Background Engelhardt wrote a book called ''A Carefree Future'' () in 1898, which described a colony of fruit and vegetable eaters, specifically cocoivores (coconut eaters) he was founding in the then Bismarck Archipelago (now Papua New Guinea) in the Australasia, South Pacific a place known for its Headhunting, headhunters. ''Imperium'' is a 2012 satiric novel by the Swiss writer Christian Kracht. It recounts the story of August Engelhardt, a German who in the early 20th century founded a religious order in German New Guinea based on nudism and a diet consisting solely of coconuts. The fictionalized narrative is an ironic pastiche. The novel was well received by readers and literature critics alike and in 2012 was awarded the Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize. Christian Kracht (; born 29 December 1966) is a Swiss author. His books have been translated into more than 30 languages. Personal life Kracht was born in Saanen in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. He attended Schule Schloss Salem in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and Lakefield College School in Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, New York, in 1989. Kokopo
Kokopo is the capital of East New Britain Province in Papua New Guinea. It is administered under Kokopo-Vunamami Urban LLG. The capital was moved from Rabaul in 1994 when the volcanoes Tavurvur and Vulcan erupted. As a result, the population of the town increased more than sixfold from 3,150 in 1990 to 20,262 in 2000.
