Emma Kerr-Carpenter
Emma Kerr-Carpenter is an American politician serving as a member of the Montana House of Representatives from the 49th district. She was appointed to the House on July 10, 2018, succeeding Kelly McCarthy. Early life and education Kerr-Carpenter was born in Watertown, New York. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations and religion from Boston University. Career After graduating from college, Kerr-Carpenter taught English in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She then relocated to Billings, Montana, where she became a family support specialist for the Family Support Network. She joined Youth Dynamics of Montana in 2015 as a youth case manager and has since worked as the organization's marketing and education coordinator. In 2018, when incumbent representative Kelly McCarthy announced that he was moving to Australia, Kerr-Carpenter was appointed to fill his vacant seat in the Montana House of Representatives. Watertown (city), New York
Watertown is a city in, and the county seat of, Jefferson County, New York, United States. It is approximately south of the Thousand Islands, along the Black River about east of where it flows into Lake Ontario. The city is bordered by the town of Watertown to the south, east, and west, and is served by the Watertown International Airport and the ''Watertown Daily Times'' newspaper. In the middle of Watertown lies the Public Square Historic District, which was built in 1805 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1984. Watertown is located southwest of the U.S. Army base at Fort Drum; it is the service and shopping destination for personnel there and their families. Kelly McCarthy
Kelly McCarthy (born March 28, 1966) is an American politician who served as a member of the Montana House of Representatives from 2013 to 2015 and again from 2015 to 2018. Career He was first elected to District 51 of the House of Representatives in 2012, after which he assumed that office on January 7, 2013. McCarthy served District 51 until being redistricted in 2015. Kelly McCarthy now represents District 49, which encompasses part of Billings in Yellowstone County, Montana. In 2017, McCarthy ran for Montana's at-large United States House of Representatives district in a special election caused by Ryan Zinke's elevation to Secretary of the Interior. Billings is the largest city in the U.S. state of Montana, with a population of 117,116 as of the 2020 census.
