Emma Jones (born 23 May 1975) is a Welsh journalist. Education She was attended Mold Alun School and Staffordshire University. Career She joined the '' Evening Leader'' newspaper in her home town of Mold. Jones worked on a variety of stories, from hard news to showbiz at the ''Sunday Mirror,'' then ''The Mail On Sunday'' and '' The Sun''. She worked as editor of ''Smash Hits'' magazine in 2001, but returned to ''The Sun'' in 2002 to become its youngest columnist. Jones was twice nominated for the UK Press Gazette ''Young Journalist of the Year'' Award, and the then editor of ''The Sun'' David Yelland described her as "the brightest young female voice in Britain". Emma Davies Jones ( Davies, born 4 October 1978) is a British Olympic cyclist. She competed in the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. Biography Born in Knutsford, Cheshire. Davies began cycling with the Manchester Wheelers' Club in 1990, aged 12, the first time she went out on a ride she fell, but made Harry Hall promise not to tell her parents in case the prevented her from participating in future. She enjoyed the experience so much she went on to compete, representing Britain at the UCI Junior World Championships in 1995 and 1996. She changed disciplines in 1997, from being a sprinter to an endurance track rider. Her riding developed which reflected in her results and maturity. She was then selected to compete at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Davies became the pursuit national champion in 2001 and successfully defended her title in 2002. Emma Louise Jones (born 21 August 1982) is a footballer who plays for the Welsh national team and the women's section of Cardiff City FC. Jones plays as a central defender and has accumulated a half-century of caps for Wales. Club career Jones played for Newport Strikers, Newport County and Merthyr Tydfil prior to joining Bristol Rovers in 2003. The club changed its name to Bristol Academy two years later. Her nickname at the Gas Girls was "Vinnie". In the mid–season break of the 2011 FA WSL, Jones left Bristol to sign for Liverpool. In February 2012 Jones returned to Wales, signing for Cardiff City's affiliated women's team, who play in the South Wales League. Emma Jones (born 10 October 1994) is a footballer who plays as forward for Portsmouth and the Wales national team. Early life Jones was born in Ashford, Middlesex. After her family had moved to Dorset, she played youth football at Southampton FC Girls Centre of Excellence. She also played for Dorset and Hampshire. She moved to the John Madejeski Academy in 2011 as part of Reading's scholarship programme. Whilst with Reading she also played for Reading Ladies first and reserve teams. Oregon State University Jones played for American university team Oregon State Beavers from 2014 to 2017. Club career Jones signed for Swedish club Linköping in 2018 and played in the UEFA Women's Champions League. She then moved to Welsh club Cardiff City Ladies in January 2019 and scored nine goals. Emma Jones (née Buchanan) (1835 – after 1881) was a New Zealand author, amateur fern collector and painter. She is known for collecting a small number of fern specimens in New Zealand, which were used by Joseph Dalton Hooker in his '' Handbook of the New Zealand Flora''. Biography Born in Stepney in London, Emma Buchanan was the eldest daughter of Emma and Andrew Buchanan. The Buchanan family emigrated to New Zealand on the ''Dinapore'' in 1857. Also on board were a widower, Humphrey Stanley Herbert Jones (1817–1902), and his sister Elizabeth Stack. Four months after arriving in Auckland she married Jones, the commissary general of the British forces in New Zealand. They were married by Bishop George Selwyn at St Stephen's Chapel in Auckland, on 1 December 1857.
