Emma Gamisonia
Emma Alekseevna Gamisonia (russian: Эмма Алексеевна Гамисония) is a politician from Abkhazia. She currently serves as Vice-Speaker of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia. Gamisonia was first elected to the Assembly in the election of 2002. Her name was initially included among the members of the political party Republic at the time of its formation, although it later became clear that this had been done without her knowledge and against her will. The People's Assembly — Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia ( ab, Аҧсны Жәлар Реизара – Апарламент, ka, აფხაზეთის რესპუბლიკის სახალხო კრება, russian: Народное Собрание — Парламент Республики Абхазия) is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Abkhazia. Composition The People's Assembly has 35 members, elected for five-year terms in single-seat constituencies. On 30 July 2015, Parliament failed to support a constitutional amendment increasing the number of members to 45 and introducing a mixed electoral system. Parliamentary elections were held in Abkhazia on 2 March 2002 to elect the 3rd convocation of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia, third convocation of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia, People's Assembly. The elections had originally been scheduled for 24 November 2001, but had to be postponed due to the 2001 Kodori crisis, October 2001 Chechen incursion into the lower Kodori Valley. Apsny (political Party)
Apsny is a political party in Abkhazia. First period (until 2005) Apsny was founded as a social movement in the 1990s, but was transformed into a political party in February 2001. It elected as its co-chairmen member of the People's Assembly Maia Agrba and Rushni Jopua and as its Executive Secretary Nugzar Agrba. Serving as the principal pro-government formation, Apsny supported Raul Khajimba in the 2004 presidential election. On 8 February 2005, Apsny formed, with eleven smaller parties and movements, the Forum for the National Unity of Abkhazia. Apsny ceased to function independently thereafter. Abkhazian Parliamentary Election, 2007
Parliamentary elections were held in Abkhazia on 4 March 2007, with a second round in seventeen constituencies on 18 March. Electoral system The 35 members of the People's Assembly were elected in single-member constituencies using the two-round system. A total of 189 polling stations were used for the elections, with 129,650 registered voters. Campaign A total of 136 candidates were nominated, including 26 MPs. The Community Party was the only party to formally nominate candidates, with all other candidates nominated by initiative groups. The Central Election Commission approved the registration of 130 candidates, of which 22 withdrew before election day. They included 92 Abkhazians, 10 Armenians, 5 Georgians, 4 Russians and one Ukrainian. The elections for the 5th convocation of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia were held in two rounds on 10 and 24 March 2012. Background This was the first parliamentary election since the August 2008 war and the subsequent diplomatic recognition of Abkhazia by Russia, Nicaragua, Nauru, Venezuela, Vanuatu and Tuvalu. On 22 February, President Alexander Ankvab survived an assassination attempt as his motorcade came under attack on the road from Gudauta to Sukhumi. Though he survived, two bodyguards were killed. Ankvab blamed "mafia, criminal groups" and the "political circles" around them for the attack. 3rd Convocation Of The People's Assembly Of Abkhazia
The 3rd convocation of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia was in place from 2002 until 2007. Speaker, Vice Speakers and Committee Chairmen The third convocation held its first session on 2 April 2002, led by its oldest member Ivan Zarandia and attended by Vice President Valeri Arshba. There were two candidates for Speaker, Nugzar Ashuba and Kesou Khagba. Ashuba was elected with 23 votes against ten (one vote was invalid).
