Emma Bristow
Emma Bristow (born 29 October 1990 in Boston, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom), is an Professional motorcycle trials rider and 8 times Women's World Trials Champion. In 2014 Emma became the first British rider to win the Women's FIM Trial World Championship. She also won the Women's FIM Trial European Championship in 2013 and the British Women's title in 2014. Biography Emma began riding at the age of 4 and became a four time British Youth Champion. She started her international career at the 2006 World Championships, riding to 9th place in the Andorra round at the age of 16. Competing on a Gas Gas Emma contested the European and World rounds over the next few seasons. Emma signed for the Ossa factory in 2011 and rode to runner up position in the World Championships, a result she repeated in 2012. Motorcycle trials, also known as observed trials, often called simply trial/s (with or without the plural "s"), is a non-speed event on specialized motorcycles. The sport is most popular in the United Kingdom and Spain, though there are participants around the globe. Modern trials motorcycles are distinctive in that they have evolved to become extremely lightweight, lack seating (they are designed to be ridden standing up) and have suspension travel that is short, relative to a motocross or enduro motorcycle. FIM Trial World Championship
The FIM Trial World Championship and FIM X-Trial World Championship are the most prestigious motorcycle trials tournaments of the world, organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. The outdoor championship is held since 1964 and the indoor (X-Trial) since 1993. From 1964 to 1967 the championship was named Challenge Henry Groutards. From 1968 to 1974, it was the Trial European Championship, and from 1975 onwards it has been known as the World Championship. Up until 2010, the outdoor world trial championship has been won by 6 different pilots from the UK, 5 from Spain, 2 from Finland and France, and 1 from Belgium, Germany, United States, Japan and Sweden. FIM Trial European Championship
The FIM Trials European Championship is organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and has been held since 1992. The championship gives up and coming riders a chance to compete at international level against top class riders, many who have progressed to become champions in the FIM Trial World Championship such as current champion Toni Bou and past champions Dougie Lampkin and Adam Raga History The Inaugural championship was held in 1992 with a single class format. In 1999 a women's class was added in part due to the addition of a women's class In the FIM Trial World Championship series the previous year. Gas Gas
Gas Gas is a Spanish motorcycle manufacturer established in 1985 by Narcìs Casas and Josep Pibernat in Salt, Girona. The company specializes in off-road motorcycles for trials and enduro competitions. Gas Gas was purchased by KTM motorcycles in 2019. After the sale to KTM, Gas Gas's off-road models were purchased by Spanish motorcycle manufacturer Rieju. Company history In 1973, Narcìs Casas and Josep Pibernat began operating a Bultaco motorcycle franchise in Salt. With the financial demise of the Bultaco factory in 1979, Casas and Pibernat began importing Italian SWM motorcycles until 1984 when, the manufacturer ceased operations. Casas and Pibernat then embarked on a programme to manufacture trial motorbikes for sale in their shop. Ossa (motorcycle)
Ossa was a Spanish motorcycle manufacturer which was active from 1924 to 1982 and from 2010 to 2015. Founded by Manuel Giró, an industrialist from Barcelona, Ossa was best known for lightweight, two-stroke-engined bikes used in observed trials, motocross and enduro. The company was known originally as ''Orpheo Sincronic Sociedad Anónima (O.S.S.A.)'' and was later renamed ''Maquinaria Cinematográfica, S.A.''. The Ossa brand was reborn in 2010 when the trademark was purchased by an investment group and produced motorcycles until 2014 when, the company merged with the Spanish motorcycle manufacturer Gas Gas. Sherco
Sherco is a French motorcycle manufacturer, specialising in off-road motorbikes. Sherco are best known for their extremely popular trials bikes, although they also make enduro and supermoto bikes. The company was founded in 1998, and currently has two production facilities. A factory in Caldes de Montbui, Spain, some north of Barcelona is where the company's trials bikes are manufactured. Enduro and supermoto bikes are built at a factory in Nîmes, France. The name, Sherco, derives from the amalgamation of two words, Bultaco and Sherpa, that harks back to the company's origins. The Barcelona factory, that was founded in 1998, specializes in the trial category, while the French factory, which was established in 2003, specializes in the rest of the production. ''Trial des Nations'' is the most important Motorcycle trials competition of national teams organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM). After the experiment of Myslenice, Poland, the first official ''trial of Nations'' was held in Canzo, Italy, and managed by the Moto Club Canzo. The Italian club also proposed to maintain this event as a yearly competition. Since then, it has been held annually at different countries. Each team is composed of four riders in the male category, and since 2000, three riders in the female category. The team with fewest total penalties is awarded the title.
