Emine Erdoğan (; ; born 16 February 1955) is the current first lady of Turkey, and the wife of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Family and education Early life Emine Erdoğa, was born as Cemal and Hayriye Gülbaran’s fifth child and only daughter in Üsküdar, Istanbul. Emine Semiye Önasya (28 March 1864 – 1944), mostly known as Emine Semiye and Emine Vahide, was a Turkish writer, activist, and early feminist. Early life and education Emine Semiye was born in Istanbul on 28 March 1866. She was the second daughter of Ahmed Cevdet Pasha and sister of Fatma Aliye. Her mother was Adviye Rabia Hanım. Emine Semiye studied psychology and sociology in France and Switzerland for seven years. She was one of the first Ottoman Muslim women educated in Europe. Career From 1882 Emine Semiye worked as a Turkish and literature teacher in Istanbul and in other provinces. Emine Bozkurt (born 9 August 1967) is a Dutch politician of Turkish descent and Member of the European Parliament between 2004 and 2014. She is a member of the Dutch Labour Party, which is part of the Party of European Socialists. In the European Parliament she was a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality. Emine Hatun ( ota, امینہ خاتون) was a consort of Sultan Mehmed I of the Ottoman Empire. Early life Emine Hatun was born as a Dulkadirid princess, the daughter of Șaban Suli Bey, third ruler of the Beylik of Dulkadir (reign 1386–1398). Emine Çaykara (born 1964) is Turkish writer and historian. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, she is a graduate of Istanbul University’s Classical Archeology Faculty. During her studies at Istanbul University she worked at the Ephesus Museum cataloguing ancient sculptures, followed by a two-year participation with an Austrian Archeological Team during their Artemis’ Temple excavation. Due to her background in French she spent the next few years after graduation as a professional tour guide. During that period she translated many works to Turkish.
