Emily Squires
Emily Squires (August 23, 1941 – November 21, 2012) was an American television producer and director best known for her Emmy Award-winning work on ''Sesame Street''. Life and career After attending Randolph Macon Women's College, from which she later received an award as an outstanding alumna, Emily Squires graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1962. She moved to New York later that year and began working for CBS News. In 1967, when public television was in its infancy, she began working for the Public Broadcast Laboratory. Two years later, she began working as a production assistant at ''Sesame Street'' during its first year on the air. In 1982, Squires joined a team of ''Sesame Street'' directors that included Jon Stone, Lisa Simon, and Ted May. Over the next 25 years, she received 18 Emmy nominations and became known for having a terrific eye when it came to shooting musical numbers. Dalai Lama
Dalai Lama (, ; ) is a title given by the Tibetan people to the foremost spiritual leader of the Gelug or "Yellow Hat" school of Tibetan Buddhism, the newest and most dominant of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The 14th and current Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso, who lives as a refugee in India. The Dalai Lama is also considered to be the successor in a line of tulkus who are believed to be incarnations of Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. ''Between the Lions'' is an American animated/live-action/puppet children's television series designed to promote reading. The show was a co-production between WGBH in Boston and Sirius Thinking, Ltd., in New York City, in association with Mississippi Public Broadcasting, the distributor from seasons 5–10, in Mississippi. The Daytime Emmy Awards, or Daytime Emmys, are part of the extensive range of Emmy Awards for artistic and technical merit for the American television industry. Elmo Saves Christmas
''Elmo Saves Christmas'' is a Sesame Street musical fantasy comedy television special released on PBS on December 2, 1996. It was released to VHS that same year. Inspired by the 1892 short story "Christmas Every Day" by William Dean Howells, Elmo wishes for Christmas to occur every day, only to be taken to the future to learn the adverse consequences of his wish. The program was filmed in ''Sesame Street's'' usual home, the Kaufman Astoria Studios in New York City. Footage from the film ''It's a Wonderful Life'' also appears in the program and after the credits. ''The Best of Elmo'' is a 1994 ''Sesame Street'' video originally released on VHS as part of the "My Sesame Street Home Video" series, the 16th and final title of the My Sesame Street Home Video series. A follow-up, ''The Best of Elmo 2'', was released in 2010, followed by ''The Best of Elmo 3'' (2015), followed by ''The Best of Elmo 4'' (2018). On March 15, the special was re-aired as the ''Sesame Street'' episode "2835", with additional inserts from previous episodes added and the pledge break scene removed.
