Emily McInerny
Emily Katherine (Macca) McInerny (born 30 April 1978) is a former Australian women's basketball player. Biography McInerny was a member of the Australia women's national basketball team roster during the late 1990s and 2000s and was a member of the Australian team that won a gold medal at the 2006 World Championship in Brazil. McInerny also won gold for Australia at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and at the 2005 and 2007 FIBA Oceania Championships. McInerny won a silver medal for Australia at the 1997 Junior World Championships in Brazil where she played alongside future greats, Lauren Jackson and Penny Taylor. Penny Taylor
Penelope Jane Taylor (born 24 May 1981) is an Australian retired professional basketball player and assistant coach. During her 19-year career, Taylor spent the most time with the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA, where she won three championships. She also won the WNBL title with her first club, the Australian Institute of Sport, and played in China, Italy, Turkey and Russia. As part of the Australian woman's national team, Taylor won two Olympic medals and led the Australian Opals to a gold medal at the World Championships, winning tournament MVP honours ahead of teammate Lauren Jackson. Robyn Maher
Robyn Maher (born 6 October 1959) is a retired female basketball player from Australia, who played for the Sydney Uni Flames. A three-time Olympian she was a member of the national women's team that won the bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Maher was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2002 Australia Day Honours in recognition of her "service to basketball as a player and administrator, and for the promotion of the sport among young people". In 2006, Maher was inducted into the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame. In October 2018, she was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. The Dandenong Rangers were an Australian professional women's basketball team competing in the Women's National Basketball League ( WNBL). The club is based in Dandenong, Melbourne, Victoria. Melbourne United is an Australian professional basketball team based in Melbourne, Victoria. United compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at John Cain Arena. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) competed in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) as a team of the AIS Athletes. They won the WNBL Championship just once, in the 1998–99 WNBL season, led by a young Lauren Jackson. The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) is the pre-eminent professional women's basketball league in Australia. It is currently composed of eight teams. The league was founded in 1981 and is the women's counterpart to the National Basketball League (NBL). Several WNBL teams have NBL counterparts.
