Emilio Lozoya Thalmann
Emilio Lozoya Thalmann (born 1948) is a Mexican economist and politician, member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party. He was Secretary of Energy during the government of Carlos Salinas de Gortari. Emilio Lozoya graduated in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University and a Master's in Public Administration from Harvard University. At the outset of his government in 1988, Salinas appointed him as Director-General of the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), a position he held until 1993 when he was appointed Secretary of Energy, Mines and State Owned Industry, a post in which he ended the administration. Pemex (a portmanteau of Petróleos Mexicanos, which translates to ''Mexican Petroleum'' in English; ) is the Mexican state-owned petroleum company managed and operated by the Mexican government. Emilio Ricardo Lozoya Austin (Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, Chihuahua State, Chihuahua, December 9, 1974) is a Mexican economist and politician. He was the CEO of Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) from 2012 to 2016. Biography Education He holds a degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, ITAM and one in Law from National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM. He also has a Masters in Public Administration and International Development (MPA/ID) from Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is the author of different publications on monetary policy, productivity and competition, efficiency in public policies, as well as education and electoral systems. The Institutional Revolutionary Party ( es, Partido Revolucionario Institucional, ; abbr. PRI) is a political party in Mexico that was founded in 1929 and held uninterrupted power in the country for 71 years, from 1929 to 2000, first as the National Revolutionary Party ( es, Partido Nacional Revolucionario, PNR), then as the Party of the Mexican Revolution ( es, Partido de la Revolución Mexicana, PRM) and finally as the PRI beginning in 1946. The Mexican Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers or Civil Service Social Security and Services Institute ( es, Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado, or ISSSTE) is a federal government organization in Mexico that administers part of Mexico's health care and social security systems, and provides assistance in cases of disability, old age, early retirement, and death (or IVCM, for ''invalidez, vejez, cesantía en edad avanzada, y muerte'') to federal workers.
