Emilio Bofill
Emilio Bofill Benessat, in Catalan Emili Bofill i Benessat (1907–2000) was a Spanish builder with a strong background in architecture. He has been described as "the constructor whom every architect wanted to build their work." Life Emilio Bofill was born in 1907 in an established Catalan family. His father (1860–1938) was a physician and entomologist, involved in prominent local scientific institutions such as the Institute for Catalan Studies, the , and the . He studied at , graduating in 1931, together with a group of significant Catalan architects that included , , , Miguel López González, Marino Canosa and . He did not become a licensed architect, however, and thus is generally referenced only as builder even in projects for which he actually was instrumental in the design. The Institute for Catalan Studies ( ca, Institut d'Estudis Catalans, ), also known by the acronym IEC, is an academic institution which seeks to undertake research and study into "all elements of Catalan culture". Sant Just Desvern (; ) is a town near Barcelona, in the ''comarca'' of the Baix Llobregat, Catalonia, Spain. Sant Just Desvern is located in the 2,078317º of longitude and 41,381611º of latitude. It is situated at 122 m (average) above sea level. The maximum height is located at 405 meters above sea level, almost in the top of Turó de Merlès (416.7 m), and the lowest spot of this town is about 40 meters, located at the park of Torreblanca. Name The name of the building is inspired by B. F. Skinner's novel, ''Walden Two'', which depicts a utopian community and itself is a reference to Henry David Thoreau's novel ''Walden''. Mont-Ras (Catalan; in Spanish, Montrás) is a village and rural district situated between the larger towns of Palafrugell and Palamos on the Costa Brava in Baix Emporda, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. La Muralla Roja () is a postmodern apartment complex in Manzanera, Calpe, Spain. It is designed by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill for the client Palomar S.A. in 1968 and fully constructed by 1973. It has been ranked among "Ricardo Bofill's 10 Most Iconic Works". In designing the building, Bofill referenced the architecture of North African casbahs and Arab Mediterranean architectural styles.
