Emile Calmes
Emile Calmes (born 3 October 1954 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgish politician. He is the Mayor of Préizerdaul, having been a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1989 until 2007. He has been a member of the Democratic Party (DP) since 1982. In 1982, Calmes became Mayor of Préizerdaul (then named 'Bettborn'), in north-western Luxembourg. He entered the Chamber of Deputies at the 1989 election, running in the Nord constituency, which includes Préizerdaul. He was re-elected in 1994. In the 1999 legislative elections, he placed second on the DP list (behind only Charles Goerens), with two being elected. In 2004, Calmes came second again, with the DP falling back from their high-water mark in 1999, but the DP managed to hold on to their second seat in Nord, allowing Calmes to take his seat in the Chamber once more. General elections were held in Luxembourg on 7 June 2009, together with the 2009 election to the European Parliament. All sixty members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected for five years. Fernand Etgen (born 10 March 1957) is a Luxembourg politician of the Democratic Party (DP) who has been President of the Chamber of Deputies since 2018. Charles Goerens (born 6 February 1952) is a Luxembourgish politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Luxembourg. He is a member of the Democratic Party, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Early career He studied agricultural science before he was first elected to the northern district constituency as a member of the Democratic Party in 1979. From 1989 until 1994 he was its chairman.
