Emil Mailho
Emil Pierre Mailho (December 16, 1908 – March 7, 2007) was a professional baseball player. He played part of one season in Major League Baseball in 1936 for the Philadelphia Athletics. He was born in Berkeley, California, and died in Castro Valley, California. Between mid-1931 and 1936, Mailho played for the Oakland Oaks in the Pacific Coast League, hitting over .300 each year, except for an injury shortened 1934 season. When called up by the Athletics, Mailho was mostly used as a left-handed pinch hitter by manager Connie Mack, although he appeared in one game as an outfielder. After his stint with the Athletics, Mailho joined the Atlanta Crackers of the Southern Association for the rest of the 1936 season, hitting .315. Between 1937 and 1941, Mailho never hit below .298 in a season. Mailho returned to the Pacific Coast League, playing for the Oakland Oaks in 1942 to 1944, and the San Francisco Seals in 1945. Southern Association
The Southern Association was a higher-level minor league in American organized baseball from 1901 through 1961. For most of its existence, the Southern Association was two steps below the Major Leagues; it was graded Class A (1902–1935), Class A1 (1936–1945) and Class AA (1946–1961). Although the SA was known as the Southern League through 1919, the later Double-A Southern League was not descended from the Southern Association; the modern SL came into existence in 1964 as the successor to the original ''South Atlantic'' ("Sally") League. The Texas League is a Minor League Baseball league which has operated in the South Central United States since 1902. It is classified as a Double-A league. Despite the league's name, only its five South Division teams are actually based in the state of Texas; the five North Division teams are located in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The league was founded in 1888 and ran through 1892. It was called the Texas Association in 1895, the Texas-Southern League in 1896, and again as the Texas League from 1897 to 1899.
