Emidio Greco
Emidio Greco (20 October 1938 – 22 December 2012) was an Italian film director and screenwriter, best known for the 1974 film ''Morel's Invention''. Life and career Born in Leporano, in the province of Taranto, Greco moved in Turin as a child. In 1964 he graduated at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, then, two years later, he started an activity as documentarist for RAI TV. In 1971 he attended Roberto Rossellini accompanying him in Chile for a filmed interview with Salvador Allende. In 1974 Greco made his directorial debut in a feature film with ''Morel's Invention'' that, well-received from critics, marked him as a real promise in Italian art cinema. His second film, ''Ehrengard'', filmed in 1982, would be released just in 2002 due to the bankruptcy of the producers; from then he directed six more films, mainly literary works adaptations. Francesco Maselli or Citto Maselli (born 9 December 1930, in Rome) is an Italian film director and screenwriter. He has directed 38 films since 1949. Biography Maselli graduated at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, National Film School in 1949 and began his career as assistant director for Luigi Chiarini, Michelangelo Antonioni and Luchino Visconti. Thanks to Visconti, Maselli manages to direct his first feature film, ''Abandoned (1955 film), Abandoned'', showed in competition at the 16th Venice International Film Festival, 16th Venice Film Festival. ''Milonga'' (translation: ''Tango'') is a 1999 Italian giallo film co-written and directed by Emidio Greco. For his performance Giancarlo Giannini won the Globo d'oro for best actor. Plot In one of the most central squares of Rome, Piazza Barberini, the famous TV star Aldo Ruggeri is killed in broad daylight. The commissioner, accompanied by agent Ginevra Scapuzzo, arrives on the spot to start the investigation. After various vicissitudes the commissioner, thanks to a tango listened to on the radio, will be able to connect the facts by discovering the killers. Going to Milonga, that is the place where the tango is danced, he will find the two killers, a man and a woman.
