Emerson Muschamp Bainbridge
Emerson Muschamp Bainbridge (5 December 1845 – 12 May 1911) was an English mining consulting engineer, philanthropist and Liberal Party politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1895 to 1900. Life Bainbridge was born in the village of Eastgate and educated at Doncaster and at Durham University. He was articled to mining engineering with the Marquis of Londonderry in Durham College. In 1870 he became manager of the Sheffield and Tinsley Collieries, and soon afterwards he was in charge of the Nunnery pits on behalf of the Duke of Norfolk. These were turned into a limited company in 1874, and he then became managing director with a controlling interest. In 1873 was awarded the Hermon prize for an essay on the prevention of mine explosions. He was head of a noted firm of mining consulting engineers. In 1889 Bainbridge, obtained a lease from the Duke of Portland for the Tophard or Barnsley coal, under areas of land in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. He then founded the ...

Captain The Honourable Seymour Fitzroy Ormsby-Gore, FRGS (18 January 1863 – 10 November 1950) was a British Conservative politician. Biography Ormsby-Gore was the youngest son of William Ormsby-Gore, 2nd Baron Harlech (1819–1904) by his wife Lady Emily Charlotte Seymour (died 1892), daughter of Admiral Sir George Francis Seymour and sister of Francis Hugh George Seymour, 5th Marquess of Hertford. His father also served as a Conservative politician, and inherited the barony of Harlech from his brother in 1882, when his children received the style ''the Honourable''. He graduated from the University of Oxford and was commissioned a lieutenant in the 4th (Militia) Battalion of the Oxfordshire Light Infantry in 1885, serving as such until 1889. Joseph Bennett (UK Politician)
Joseph Bennett (1829 – 1 January 1908) was an English merchant and Liberal politician. Bennett was born at Grimsby, the son of William Bennett and his wife Ann. He was educated at Wesley College, Sheffield and became a merchant at Louth. He was a J.P. for Lindsey Division of Lincolnshire, and for the Boroughs of Louth and Grimsby In the 1885 general election, Bennett was elected Member of Parliament for Gainsborough but lost the seat in the 1886 general election. Lieutenant-General Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, 1st Baron Norrie, (26 September 1893 – 25 May 1977), was a senior officer of the British Army who fought in both World Wars, following which he served terms as Governor of South Australia and the eighth Governor-General of New Zealand. Brigadier-General William Harry Verelst Darell CMG, DSO (23 January 1878 – 7 February 1954) was a British Army officer and rower who won the Diamond Challenge Sculls at Henley Royal Regatta. Birth and education Darell was born in Earley, the second son of Sir Lionel Darell, 5th Baronet. The Darell family derived its fortune from service in the East India Company in the late eighteenth century.
