Emerson Dorsch Gallery
The Emerson Dorsch Gallery, founded in 1991 as the Dorsch Gallery, is an art gallery in Miami, Florida, United States founded by Brook Dorsch. Initially located in Dorsch's 2nd story apartment over Parkway Drugs on Coral Way, the gallery featured the work of local young Miami artists, many of whom were enrolled in the University of Miami's Visual Arts department. The gallery gained an underground following after positive reviews from Miami Herald critic Helen Kohen. In early 2000, the gallery relocated to Wynwood, one of the first commercial galleries to open there, and was a driving force in setting up the Wynwood Art District in 2001. In 2013, the Dorsch Gallery was renamed to Emerson Dorsch, reflecting the addition of Tyler Emerson-Dorsch as a partner in the gallery, along with a renovation of the building. Awesome New Republic is a two-piece indie band from Miami, Florida consisting of Michael John Hancock and Brian Robertson. Their debut album, '' ANR So Far'', was released with critical acclaim from online magazines such as Stereogum, and received play on the BBC and KCRW. '' ANR So Far'' was featured on Pitchfork Media and received 7.9/10. Arthur Doyle (June 26, 1944 – January 25, 2014) was an American jazz saxophonist, bass clarinettist, flutist, and vocalist who was best known for playing what he called "free jazz soul music". SsingSsing (Hangul: 씽씽) was a South Korean band that fused Korean folk music with genres including glam rock, disco, and psychedelic rock. The band formed in 2010, and gained international attention in 2017 after performing on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts and at Globalfest at Webster Hall. Samuel "Sam" Ervin Beam (born July 26, 1974), better known by his stage name Iron & Wine, is an American singer-songwriter. Arnold Mesches (August 11, 1923 – November 5, 2016) was an American visual artist. Bio Arnold Mesches was born in 1923 in the Bronx, New York and was raised in Buffalo, New York. Mesches moved to Los Angeles in 1943 on a scholarship at the Art Center School. In 1945, the FBI opened a file on him targeting him as a subversive communist. He was inspired to create works during the Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy era of the 1950s.
