Emerald Music
Emerald Music is an independent record label that specializes in Irish, Scottish, and Celtic music. It is based in Roughfort, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Background Emerald Music was founded in 1964 by Mervyn Solomon, the first person to record Rory Gallagher and Van Morrison of the group Them. The label specialises in Irish traditional music and compilation albums. It also covers Scottish music, including pipe bands. The company has an extensive back catalogue and claims to be one of the most comprehensive Irish and Scottish record labels. George Doherty started working with Mervyn Solomon in Emerald's Hydepark Studios in September 1975. Doherty and Solomon had two UK Top Twenty albums with Scottish singer Ann Williamson. During 1989 Doherty teamed up with John Anderson and produced what proved to be the backbone for the first four Jive Bunny hits. Bridie Gallagher
Bridget "Bridie" Gallagher (7 September 1924 – 9 January 2012) was an Irish singer, affectionately known as "The Girl from Donegal". She has been described as "Ireland's first international pop star". Gallagher shot to fame in 1956 with her recording of "A Mother's Love's A Blessing" and achieved international acclaim with her legendary rendition of "The Boys From County Armagh". Micky Modelle
Micky Modelle (born Michael Modine in 1972) is a Northern Irish disc jockey and record producer from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Career He came into the media spotlight in 2006, when he had a hit with Belgian singer Jessy, " Dancing in the Dark" was originally released by Jessy in 2004 in Belgium. However, after meeting Jessy, he remixed the song in 2006. The song gained him chart success. It peaked at number ten on the UK Singles Chart, number five in the Republic of Ireland and number seven in Jessy's native Belgium. The song also peaked at number twenty five in Switzerland. The second single, "Over You" achieved moderate success, peaking at number thirty-five on the UK Singles Chart and eighteen on Irish Singles Chart, respectively. Clubsound
Clubsound are a showband from Northern Ireland. Formed in 1970, the band enjoyed particular success during the 1970s and 1980s. The original line-up featured George Jones, Tommy Thomas who wrote much of the comedy material, Dave McKnight, Barry Woods and Alan McCartney. They started in 1955 as a seven-piece skiffle band called Danie Sands and the Javelins. The band later did backing singing before evolving into a comedy cabaret act. Clubsound enjoyed several locally successful singles, including ''Belfast, Belfast'' and ''Shankill Airways''. Members The original lineup featured drummer Bryan "Tommy" Thomas from Wales (died c. 22 April 2022), bassist George Jones, Barry Woods, Alan McCartney and Dave McKnight. Malachi Cush
Malachi Cush, also recording as Malachi, (born 23 September 1980), is an Irish singer-songwriter from Donaghmore, a small village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Coming from a large musical family, he started singing and playing Irish traditional music at an early age. He appeared on the first series of Fame Academy and has had chart success in the UK and Thailand. His musical influences also included The Pogues, U2 and Van Morrison. Malachi is now married. Techno
Techno is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set, with tempo often varying between 120 and 150 beats per minute (bpm). The central rhythm is typically in common time (4/4) and often characterized by a repetitive four on the floor beat. Andrew Stewart MBE (30 December 1933 – 11 October 1993) was a Scottish singer and entertainer. He presented the BBC TV variety show ''The White Heather Club'' throughout the 1960s, and his song " Donald Where's Your Troosers?" was a hit in both 1960 and 1989.
