Emerald Lake (Trinity County, California)
Emerald Lake is a lake located in the Trinity Alps Wilderness area, in Northern California. The lake sits in a granite bowl, approximately above sea level. It is dammed with a rock wall constructed many years ago when the area was used by miners. Visitors can still find old rusty pieces of their equipment around the lake, including giant gears, winches, and cables. Visitors can access the lake by hiking the Stuart Fork Trail, and the lake is downstream of Sapphire Lake. Trinity Alps Wilderness
The Trinity Alps Wilderness is a designated wilderness located in northern California, roughly between Eureka and Redding. It is jointly administered by Shasta-Trinity, Klamath, and Six Rivers National Forests. About are administered by the Bureau of Land Management. The wilderness is located in the Salmon and Scott Mountains, subranges of the Klamath Mountains region. The high, granitic and ultramafic peaks of the eastern half of the wilderness area are known as the Trinity Alps.
