Alexander Thomas Embury
Alexander Thomas Embury (12 January 1874 – 19 July 1956) was a Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Lennox County, Ontario and became a physician. Embury attended school at Napanee Collegiate, then earned his medical degrees ( MD, CM) at Queen's University. In 1921, he was a warden of Hastings County. Aymar Embury II
Aymar Embury II (June 15, 1880 – November 15, 1966) was an American architect. He is best known for commissions from the City of New York from the 1930s through to the 1950s. In this period, Embury frequently worked with Robert Moses in the latter's various city and state capacities, especially, early on, in Moses’ capacity as New York City Parks Commissioner. Many surviving examples of Embury's work are zoos, swimming pools, playgrounds, and other recreational structures in New York City parks. Biography Embury was born in New York City to Aymar Embury and Fannie Miller Bates. Married four times, his first union was with Dorothy Coe in 1904. They later divorced, and he married Ruth Dean. Dean was a famous landscape designer who designed Grey Gardens during the marriage. The two worked out of the same office but had separate shingles for their businesses. Emma Catherine Embury
Emma Catherine Embury (née Manley; February 25, 1806 – February 10, 1863) was an American author and poet. Under the pen name of "Ianthe", she contributed to the periodicals of the day, and may be considered among the pioneers of female literature in the United States. Her many poems and tales were afterwards collected and published in book form. Among these volumes are ''The Blind Girl and Other Tales'', ''Glimpses of Home Life'', ''Pictures of Early Life'', ''Nature’s Gems, or American Wild Flowers'' (1845), and ''The Waldorf Family, a fairy tale of Brittany, partly a translation and partly original'', (1848.) Philip Embury
Philip Embury (Ballingrane, County Limerick, Ireland, 21 September 1729 – Camden Valley, New York, August 1775) was a Methodist preacher, a leader of one of the earliest Methodist congregations in the United States. Biography Embury's parents were members of the colony of Germans that emigrated from the Palatinate to Ireland early in the eighteenth century, and in which Wesley labored with great success. The colony had formed from Protestant Germans forced to abandon their farms on the Rhine due to French Catholic raids and a harsh winter. In 1709 Queen Anne of England accepted the refugees, settling a group of families in Catholic Ireland to boost the Protestant presence. Embury was educated at a school near Ballingrane, County Limerick, Ireland, and learned the carpenter's trade. He was converted on Christmas day, 1752, became a local preacher at Court-Matrix in 1758, and married Margaret Switzer that fall.Dee E. Shane Embury (born 27 November 1967) is a British bassist and a member of the grindcore and death metal band Napalm Death since 1987. Career Napalm Death While not a founding member, Embury is the longest standing member of the band, having taken part in the ''Scum'' tour, replacing previous bassist Jim Whitely in 1987. He was a fan of the band before he joined, first seeing them perform at Midlands venue The Mermaid the previous year and becoming close friends of the members of the band, particularly Mick Harris. Nicholas Bullen, the founding member of the band, originally asked Shane to join them before the recording of the B-side of the debut album '' Scum'' but Shane eventually declined due to nervousness, his biggest regret. Sheila Barbara Embury (June 6, 1931 – August 1, 2005) was a former nurse and provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. Early life Sheila Barbara Pease was born on June 6, 1931. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a nurses degree in 1971. Sheila was married to David Embury who came west from Ontario to work for Shell Canada. They lived in Saskatchewan and Alberta settling in Calgary in 1969. Sheila had two children. Lynn and James (Jim). She was elected for two terms as a Progressive Conservative in the Alberta legislature. Following her retirement from politics Sheila served on various government boards. Political career Embury was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta after winning the new Calgary North West electoral district in the 1979 Alberta general election.
