The Embassy of Mauritania in Washington, D.C. is the Mauritania, Islamic Republic of Mauritania's diplomatic mission to the United States. It is located at 2129 Leroy Place N.W. in Washington, D.C.'s Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District, Kalorama neighborhood. The Ambassador is Cissé Mint Boide, Cissé Cheikh Boide. Building Built in 1914 as a private residence, the Georgian Revival-style building is designated as a contributing property to the Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Previous occupants include Joseph W. Folk, Charles Cheney Hyde, Frederik Wachmeister, the Embassy of Hungary, the Embassy of Libya, the Polish Trade Mission, and the Embassy of Jamaica. Mauritania, officially the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, is a sovereign country in Maghreb, Northwest Africa. Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District
The Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District is a neighborhood and historic district located in the Northwest (Washington, D.C.), northwest Quadrants of Washington, D.C., quadrant of Washington, D.C. The boundaries of the historic district include Rock Creek Park to the north and west, P Street to the south, and 22nd Street and Florida Avenue to the east. On the southwestern edge of the neighborhood is a stretch of Embassy Row on Massachusetts Avenue (Washington, D.C.), Massachusetts Avenue. Cissé Mint Cheikh Ould Boide is a Mauritanian designated as Mauritania’s Ambassador to the United States in March 2021. Former permanent representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation UNESCO in Paris and former Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in Mauritania.
