Embassy Of Ireland, Berlin
The Embassy of Ireland in Berlin (German: ''Botschaft von Irland'') is the diplomatic mission of Ireland to Germany. It is located at 51 Jägerstraße since 2009. The current Ambassador to Germany is Dr. Nicholas O’Brien who has served in this role since August 2019. He previously served as the Deputy Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. Embassy History The first Irish diplomatic mission in Germany was established in 1929 on Drakestraße, near Tiergarten. This building was destroyed in an air-raid during World War II. In 1951, Ireland opened an Embassy in Bonn, which was the ''de facto'' capital of West Germany. This embassy was eventually moved to Friedrichstraße, Berlin in 2000 after German Reunification. Building The embassy occupies part of 51 Jägerstraße. This building was built by the Mendelssohn family in 1789. Daniel Mulhall
Daniel Mulhall (born 8 April 1955) is a retired Irish diplomat and a former Ambassador of Ireland to the United States. He has also been Ireland's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Germany and Malaysia. Education Born in Waterford, Ireland, Mulhall studied at University College Cork. He received a BA degree degree in 1975, a Higher Diploma in Education in 1978, and an MA in history in 1979. Career Mulhall joined Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs in 1978 as Third Secretary in the Economics Division. He then moved to the department's Development Cooperation Division, and was later posted in 1980 to the embassy in New Delhi. In 1983, Mulhall moved back to Dublin to work in the Political Division. Bob McDonagh
Bob McDonagh (23 March 1924 – 3 May 2015) was an Irish diplomat, two of whose sons, Philip McDonagh and Bobby McDonagh, also served in the Irish diplomatic service. Early life McDonagh was born in Tralee, but grew up in Sandycove, County Dubin. He attended the Presentation Brothers school in Glasthule and joined the Irish civil service as a clerical officer. Con Cremin
Cornelius Christopher Cremin (6 December 1908 – 20 April 1987) was an Irish diplomat who was born in Kenmare, County Kerry. One of four children, Cremin was born to a family that operated a drapery business. His brother, Francis Cremin, became a leading academic canon lawyer who framed a number of key church documents. He was educated at St. Brendan's College, Killarney, and from 1926 at University College Cork, where he graduated with a first-class degree in Classics and Commerce. Around 1929–30, he was awarded the post-graduate University College Cork Honan scholarship. By 1930, he had attained a degree in economics and accountancy. Charles Bewley
Charles Henry Bewley (12 July 1888 – 1969) was an Irish diplomat. Raised in a famous Dublin Quaker business family, he embraced Irish Republicanism and Roman Catholicism.
