Joseph Arthur Ankrah
Joseph Arthur Ankrah Born (18 August 1915 – 25 November 1992) was a Ghanaian army general who was the head of state of Ghana from 1966 to 1969 in the position of Chairman of the National Liberation Council. Before becoming head of state, Ankrah served as the first commander of the Ghana Army. He was Ghana's first military head of state. Ankrah also served as Chairperson of the Organisation of African Unity from 24 February 1966 to 5 November 1966. Early life Ankrah was born on 18 August 1915 in Accra to the Ga family of Samuel Paul Cofie Ankrah, an overseer for the Christian Missionary Society and Beatrice Abashie Quaynor, a trader. Ankrah began his schooling in 1921 at the Wesleyan Methodist School in Accra, where his nickname was 'Ankrah Patapaa' for his "forcefulness in arguments and always playing leadership role among his mates". Hilla Limann
Hilla Limann, (12 December 1934 – 23 January 1998) was a Ghanaian diplomat and politician who served the President of Ghana from 24 September 1979 to 31 December 1981. He served as a diplomat in Lome, Togo and Geneva, Switzerland. Education Limann, whose original last name was Babini, was born in the northern Gold Coast town of Gwollu in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region to a poor family. He managed to gain an excellent education, and took up a foreign service career. Hilla completed his basic school education at the Government Middle School, Tamale, in 1949. Between 1957 and 1960, he studied Political Science at the London School of Economics. He subsequently completed a Diploma in French at the Sorbonne University, France. Joseph Kingsley Baffour-Senkyire was a Ghanaian academic, politician and diplomat. He was the member of parliament for the Duayaw-Nkwanta constituency from 1965 to 1966. and Ghana's Ambassador to United States of America from 1979 to 1981. Early life and education Baffuor-Senkyire was born on 19 March 1928. He was the second child of Nana Afua Birago, the late queen mother of the Duayaw Nkwanta Traditional area and Opanin Kwame Adiyea who hailed from Adugyama. He had his early education at the Bechem Catholic Boys School and his secondary education from St. Augustine's College, Cape Coast from 1943 until 1948 when he obtained his Cambridge School Certificate. Alex Quaison-Sackey (9 August 1924 – 21 December 1992) was a Ghanaian diplomat who served during the first and third republics. He was the first black African to serve as president of the United Nations General Assembly. Early life and education Quaison-Sackey was born at Winneba in the Central Region of Ghana. He received his secondary education in Ghana at Mfantsipim School at Cape Coast in the Central Region and studied at the Intermediate Department at Achimota College near Accra. He then proceeded to the United Kingdom, where he studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Exeter College, Oxford University, graduating with an honours degree. Lieutenant General Frederick William "Fred" Kwasi Akuffo (21 March 1937 – 26 June 1979) was a Ghanaian soldier and politician. He was Chief of the Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces from 1976 to 1978, and chairman of the ruling Supreme Military Council in Ghana from 1978 to 1979. He came to power in a military coup, and was overthrown and executed in another military coup less than a year later.
