Emanuel Sharp
Emanuel Christopher Sharp (; born March 7, 2004) is a college basketball player for the Houston Cougars men's basketball, Houston Cougars of the Big 12 Conference. Early life and high school Coming out of high school, Sharp committed to play college basketball for the Houston Cougars men's basketball, Houston Cougars over other schools such as Texas Tech, Florida, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Arizona, Clemson, Penn State, SMU and USF. College career As a freshman in 2021–22, Sharp was Redshirt (college sports), redshirted. As a redshirt freshman in 2022–23, he averaged 5.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 33 games. In the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, Sharp led the way with 30 points and seven threes in a win over 2023–24 Texas A&M Aggies men's basketball team, Texas A&M. A shooting guard's main objective is to score points for their team and steal the ball on defense. Shooting guards typically play the "wing" of the court and are generally expected to play better in isolation than other positions. Some shooting guards are tasked with being a "spot up" shooter, in which they are assigned to catch and shoot the ball, either on an open shot or in transition. They are also expected to have skills driving to the basket or creating separation on an isolation defender.
