Emanuel Ellul
Emanuel Ellul is a Maltese economist. He was Governor of the Central Bank of Malta from 1997 to 1999. Ellul started as an apprentice in the Malta Dockyard in 1951, where he also worked as tradesman. Awarded a scholarship, in October 1961 he studied politics and economics at Oxford University, and then worked for one year at the research department of the Trades Union Congress. Upon his return to Malta, he was recruited by the General Workers' Union (Malta), General Workers' Union. He then served for 30 years at the Central Bank of Malta, up to being appointed Governor by Prime Minister Alfred Sant as of October 1997 - a role which he held for two years before retiring. In 2000 Ellul joined the cabinet of Eddie Fenech Adami as adviser to the Minister of Finance, and chairman of the Government Privatisation Unit. Central Bank Of Malta
The Central Bank of Malta ( mt, Bank Ċentrali ta’ Malta) is the central bank of the Republic of Malta. It was established on 17 April 1968. In May 2004, when Malta joined the European Union, it became an integral part of the European System of Central Banks. It was responsible for, amongst other things, issuing Maltese lira banknotes and coins, before Malta adopted the euro in 2008 and the bank became part of the Eurosystem. The Central Bank of Malta Act was originally published by means of Act XXXI of 1967. It has been amended a number of times, most recently by Acts I and IV of 2007 in order to provide for the bank's membership within the Eurosystem. Chris Cardona
Christian Cardona (born 1972) is a Maltese former politician and lawyer. He was a Member of Parliament for the Maltese Labour Party and was elected Deputy Leader for Party Affairs in 2016. He served as Malta's Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business between 2013 and 2020. Biography Cardona was born in 1972 and graduated as Notary Public and Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta. He furthered his studies in international maritime law at the United Nations' International Maritime Organization where he obtained a first Class master's degree in shipping law.
