Elyes Fakhfakh ( ar, إلياس الفخفاخ; born 1972) is a Tunisian politician. Habib Jemli or Habib Jomli ( ar, الحبيب الجملي; born 28 March 1959). is a Tunisian politician. He was the Secretary of State to the Minister of Agriculture from 2011 to 2014. He is an independent but is close to Ennahdha. He was appointed in 2019 to become the Tunisian head of government. In 2020, his government failed to gain the confidence of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, making him the first appointed head of government not to take office. 2019 Tunisian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Tunisia on 15 September 2019, the second direct vote for the presidency since the 2011 revolution. The elections had originally been planned for 17 and 24 November, but were brought forward after the death of incumbent President Beji Caid Essebsi on 25 July to ensure that a new president would take office within 90 days, as required by the constitution. As no candidate received a majority of the vote in the first round, a runoff was held on 13 October between the top two candidates, Kais Saied and Nabil Karoui. Saied won the second round with 72.7% of the vote. The Assembly of the People's Representatives ( ar, مجلس نواب الشعب ', french: Assemblée des représentants du peuple; ARP) is Tunisia's legislative branch of government. The unicameral Assembly replaced the Constituent Assembly and was first elected on 26 October 2014. The legislature consists of 217 seats. Before the 2011 revolution, Tunisia's parliament was bicameral and consisted of an upper chamber called the Chamber of Advisors and a lower chamber called the Chamber of Deputies. 2014 Tunisian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Tunisia on 26 October 2014. Campaigning started on 4 October 2014. They were the first free regular legislative elections since independence in 1956, and the first elections held following the adoption of the new constitution in January 2014, which created a 217-seat Assembly of the Representatives of the People. According to preliminary results, Nidaa Tounes gained a plurality of votes, winning 85 seats in the 217-seat parliament, beating the Ennahda Movement (69 seats) and many smaller parties.
