Elverson Road DLR Station
Elverson Road is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the St John's area of Lewisham in south east London, and situated in a residential neighbourhood. Opening in 1999 as part of the Lewisham extension, Elverson road station is one of the newer stations of the DLR network situated between Lewisham and Deptford Bridge. The service pattern is as follows: 15 tph to Lewisham, calling at Lewisham only from platform 1. 15 tph to Bank, calling at Deptford Bridge, Greenwich, Cutty Sark, Island Gardens, Mudchute, Crossharbour, South Quay, Canary Wharf and West India Quay. Some trains at peak hours branch off here for Stratford. Trains then run to Westferry, Limehouse and Shadwell where some peak trains will head for Tower Gateway, and the rest will call at Bank. Docklands Light Railway
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an automated light metro system serving the redeveloped Docklands area of London, England and provides a direct connection between London's two major financial districts, Canary Wharf and the City of London. First opened on 31 August 1987, the DLR has been extended multiple times, giving a total route length of . Lines now reach north to Stratford, south to Lewisham, west to and in the City of London financial district, and east to Beckton, London City Airport and Woolwich Arsenal. Further extensions are being considered. Lewisham () is an area of southeast London, England, south of Charing Cross. Deptford Bridge is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Deptford, London in England. The station is elevated above both local roads and Deptford Creek, and is adjacent to Lewisham College and Deptford market. Location The station is located between Greenwich and Elverson Road stations, and is on the boundary of Travelcard Zone 2 and 3. It is sited in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and is very close to the boundary with the London Borough of Lewisham. The station layout consists of two elevated side platforms which run roughly north–south over the A2 road and parallel to the River Ravensbourne. Selective door operation (SDO), also known as selective door opening, is a mechanism employed primarily on trains (although buses with multiple doors also generally have this feature) that allows the driver or conductor/guard to open the doors of a train separately. Selective Door Operation enables trains to call at a station where the platform is shorter than the train. Some doors can be prevented from opening to ensure that passengers do not disembark from any carriages not standing at the platform.
