Elva Macias
Elva Macías Grajales ( Villaflores, Chiapas, January 10, 1944) is a Mexican poet, writer and essayist. Elva Macías was born on January 10, 1944, in Villaflores, where she lived until she was twelve years old, at which time she went to study in Mexico City. In 1963 Macías escaped to China with Eraclio Zepeda, her husband. Macías and Zepeda spent two years in China during which she worked as a Spanish teacher. After these two years they moved to Moscow, where Macías studied at the Moscow State University and specialized in Russian literature and letters. Macías' most significant relationship in the literary world, with the exception of her husband, is with the poet Elsa Cross, whom she defined as her "fundamental literary friendship". Work outside writing Macías is recognized mainly for her work in poetry, however, she has held several other positions. Villaflores, Chiapas
Villaflores Municipality is a ''municipio'' (municipality) in the state of Chiapas, southern Mexico, and the name of its largest settlement and seat of the municipal government. Situated in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas range, the municipality has an area of approximately 1232 km2 at an average elevation of 540m above mean sea level. Eraclio Zepeda
Eraclio Zepeda (March 24, 1937 – September 17, 2015) was a Mexican writer, poet and politician. Education He attended college at the Universidad Militarizada Latinoamericana, where he started a Marxism study group with Jaime Labastida, Jaime Augusto Shelley and Nils Castro. He read Social Anthropology at Universidad Veracruzana, where he joined leftist political groups, which reflects on his literary works. In 1960 he attended the first Youth Latin America Congress in Cuba and during the Bay of Pigs Invasion he enrolled as a soldier with Carlos Jurado, Nils Castro, and Roque Dalton, being named the official responsible for the Combat Special Unit. Career Teaching Zepeda was a teacher at the San Cristóbal de las Casas's Preparatory School as well its law school in 1957. Elsa Cross (born March 6, 1946 in Mexico City), is a contemporary Spanish-language Mexican writer perhaps best known for her poetry. She has also published translations, philosophical essays and is known as an authority on Indian philosophy. She has a doctorate in Philosophy and Letters from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and is currently a professor in that Faculty. In 1990, she was awarded the Premio Nacional de Poesía Aguascalientes for her book of poems ''El diván de Antar''. She is also the recipient of the Premio Nacional de Poesía Jaime Sabines (in 1992).
