Elsie Randolph
Elsie Randolph (9 December 1904 – 15 October 1982) was an English actress, singer and dancer. Randolph was born and died in London. She is best remembered for her partnership with Jack Buchanan in several stage and film musicals. She also appeared in two of Alfred Hitchcock's British films, made 40 years apart. One of her final roles was a guest part in the 1981 television series '' Funny Man'' set in the music halls of the late 1920s. Her papers are in the collection of the University of Birmingham that also has performance details in its collection. ''Picturegoer'' was a fan magazine published in the United Kingdom between 1911 and 23 April 1960. Background The magazine was started in 1911 under the name ''The Pictures'' and in 1914 it merged with ''Picturegoer''. Following the merge it was renamed ''Pictures and The Picturegoer'', which continued until 1920. The same year it was renamed as ''Pictures for the Picturegoer''. It began publication with the name ''Picturegoer'' in January 1921. Odhams Press was the publisher of the magazine during the early years. ''Follow Thru'' is a musical comedy with book by B. G. DeSylva and Laurence Schwab, lyrics by B. G. DeSylva and Lew Brown, and music by Ray Henderson. Produced by Laurence Schwab and Frank Mandel, the Broadway production opened on January 9, 1929 at the Chanin's 46th St. Theatre and ran through December 21, 1929 for a total run of 401 performances. The show was directed by Edgar MacGregor, choreographed by Bobby Connolly, and used set designs by Donald Oenslager. The cast included Jack Haley, Zelma O’Neal, John Barker and Eleanor Powell.
