Elmer E. Dunlap
Elmer E. Dunlap was an architect of Indianapolis, Indiana and a contractor from Columbus, Indiana, who worked often on projects designed by prolific architect William Ittner. He designed a number of Indianapolis schools. According to one source his "most notable effort was P. S. #26 with its V-shaped layout". The Pike County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at 801 Main St. in Petersburg, Pike County, Indiana. It was designed by architects Elmer E. Dunlap and of Jasper N. Good and built in 1922. It is a three-story, Neoclassical style, nearly square, concrete and buff brick building with slightly projecting pavilions on three sides. It measures 114 feet by 109 feet. Rockport is a city in Ohio Township and the county seat of Spencer County, Indiana, along the Ohio River. The population was 2,270 at the 2010 census. Once the largest community in Spencer County, the city has recently been surpassed by the town of Santa Claus. The Spencer County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at Rockport, Spencer County, Indiana. It was designed by architect Elmer E. Dunlap and built in 1921. It is a three-story, rectangular, seven bay by five bay, Neoclassical style limestone building. The main facade features a projecting five bay central section with engaged Roman Doric ordercolumns. Shelbyville, IN
Shelbyville is a city in Addison Township, Shelby County, in the U.S. state of Indiana and is the county seat. The population was 20,067 as of the 2020 census. History In 1818, the land that would become Shelbyville was ceded to the United States by the Miami tribe in the Treaty of St. Mary's. Also in 1818, the backwoodsman Jacob Whetzel and a party cut a trail through this " New Purchase" from the Whitewater River at Laurel due west to the White River at Waverly. This trail became known as Whetzel's Trace and was the first east–west road into the New Purchase of central Indiana. Whetzel's Trace was cut just 4 miles north of site of Shelbyville and proved important in the settlement of Shelby County. Shelbyville was platted in 1822. Shelbyville High School
The Shelbyville High School is a historic school complex located at Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana. The high school was designed by architects William Butts Ittner and built in 1911. It is a two-story, Neoclassical style brick building on a raised basement. Attached to the high school is the similarly styled, -story junior high school designed by Elmer E. Dunlap and built in 1917. The Arts and Crafts inspired two-story, brick gymnasium was added in 1922. A shop addition was constructed in 1942, and was connected to the junior high school by a concrete block addition in 1977.
