Ellyn Setnor Bogdanoff
Ellyn Setnor Bogdanoff (born October 17, 1959) is an American politician and attorney. A member of the Republican Party, Bogdanoff served as a member of the Florida Senate from the 25th District, running from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale, from 2010 to 2012. Prior to this, Bogdanoff served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from the 91st district from 2004 to 2010. Early life and education Setnor's sister, Anita Byer, works in the insurance industry. Bogdanoff received her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 1980 and her Juris Doctor degree from the Shepard Broad College of Law in 2003. Early political career In 1996, Ellyn Bogdanoff began her political career by running for the Broward County School Board as the Republican nominee, though she lost to Democratic incumbent Miriam Oliphant. Glen Ellyn, Illinois
Glen Ellyn is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. A suburb located due west of downtown Chicago, the village has a population of 28,846 as of the 2020 Census. History Glen Ellyn, like the neighboring town to the east, Lombard, had its genesis in an 1833 claim by two brothers from the Finger Lakes region of New York, Morgan and Ralph Babcock. The two claimed property in a large stand of timber near present-day St. Charles Road and the East Branch of the DuPage River. The brothers also arranged for a claim for their New York neighbor Deacon Winslow Churchill, who arrived in 1834 along with some of his adult children and their families. The nascent settlement became known as Babcock's Grove, and it included property currently part of both Glen Ellyn and Lombard. Up the trail from the river to the west was a five-cornered intersection. In 1835, Daniel Fish built a cabin there, and other settlers followed. Glen Ellyn is a station on Metra's Union Pacific West Line, located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The station is located at 551 Crescent Boulevard in Glen Ellyn. The station is located away from Ogilvie Transportation Center, the eastern terminus of the West Line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Glen Ellyn is in zone E. , Glen Ellyn is the ninth busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 1,929 weekday boardings. Unless otherwise announced, inbound trains use the north platform and outbound trains use the south platform. The middle track does not have platform access. As of May 30, 2023, Glen Ellyn is served by all 58 trains (29 in each direction) on weekdays, by all 20 trains (10 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. The Glen Ellyn Main Street Historic District is a set of eleven buildings in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The houses were built between 1874 and 1890 when the village was known as Prospect Park. The swampy setting of the village began to gain a reputation as a retreat away from the city, and by 1882 the village was large enough for incorporation. Wealthy businessmen built homes along the main stretch of the village in what would become the historical district. In the mid-1880s, a river was dammed, creating Lake Glen Ellyn, spurring the new name for the village.
