Elly Koot
Elly Tibina Koot (born 1943) is a Dutch model who won the 1964 Miss Europe contest in Beirut, Lebanon. She was born in Rotterdam, where her mother was visiting family, but grew up in Amsterdam on the Singel near the Bloemenmarkt. She was discovered by the fashion photographer Hans Dukkers. She married Frank Brandt in 1966. She and Brandt (at that time a photographer) met while shooting a commercial for Rexona - a brand of deodorant - for which he was a stand in model. Though primarily a photo model, Amsterdam she did fashion shows for and Fong Leng. From 1970 she also modeled in the United States for the Wilhelmina Models agency. In the 70s she was sometimes a jury member at Dutch beauty contests. In 1976 she developed Cushing's disease for which she had a successful surgery in the United States. Martin Visser born on the 10th of July 1968 is a Dutch fashion designer from Sleeuwijk, Netherlands. He studied fashion and design at the Hogeschool amsterdam, Hoge School Amsterdam, The Amsterdam Fashion Academy (formerly known as Charles Montaigne) and the Saga International Design Centre in Copenhagen. He has had his own collection since 1993. The store Mart Visser Haute Couture is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Cushing's Disease
Cushing's disease is one cause of Cushing's syndrome characterised by increased secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) from the anterior pituitary (secondary hypercortisolism). This is most often as a result of a pituitary adenoma (specifically pituitary basophilism) or due to excess production of hypothalamus CRH (corticotropin releasing hormone) (tertiary hypercortisolism/hypercorticism) that stimulates the synthesis of cortisol by the adrenal glands. Pituitary adenomas are responsible for 80% of endogenous Cushing's syndrome, when excluding Cushing's syndrome from exogenously administered corticosteroids. The equine version of this disease is Pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction. This should not be confused with ectopic Cushing syndrome or exogenous steroid use. Miss Europe
Miss Europe is a beauty pageant for European women from all over Europe. It was established in February 1927 by Fanamet, the European distributor of Paramount, as a one-off event where the winner was to star in a film directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. After the initial twelve-person jury couldn't decide between 10 contestants, a runoff election was held where Murnau chose the winner. Murnau ended up choosing Štefica Vidačić of Yugoslavia as the winner and the first ever Miss Europe. Miss Europe was later re-established in December 1928 by French journalist Maurice de Waleffe (1874–1946), who also created, in 1920, what by 1927 had become the Miss France pageant.
