Elliott Linwood
Elliott Linwood (born July 14, 1956) is an American conceptual artist known for his large-scale photo grids and cross-referencing sculptural installations. He is based in San Diego, California. Early life, career and education Linwood was born July 14, 1956, in Lowell and attended Billerica Memorial High School in Massachusetts before moving to New York City when he was nineteen. He came out as a gay man just before the AIDS epidemic struck. Testing positive for the HIV virus in the early 1980s led him to a life of activism around this condition. Linwood worked in the field of electronic publishing most of his life. Lowell () is a city in Massachusetts, in the United States. Alongside Cambridge, It is one of two traditional seats of Middlesex County. Ramona Lofton (born August 4, 1950), better known by her pen name Sapphire, is an American author and Performance poetry, performance poet. Early life Ramona Lofton was born in Fort Ord, California, one of four children of an Army couple who relocated within the United States and abroad. Paul Landry Monette (October 16, 1945 – February 10, 1995) was an American author, poet, and activist best known for his books about gay relationships. Early life and career Monette was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and graduated from Phillips Academy in 1963 and Yale University in 1967. The rigid social confines of his suburban, middle-class upbringing placed Monette in a position where life in the closet seemed to be the only option. For the majority of Monette's childhood, he felt suffocated and alienated by the strict, religious atmosphere in which he was raised. Jerome Caja (1958-1995) was an American mixed-media painter and Queercore performance artist in San Francisco, California in the 1980s and early 1990s. Early life and education Jerome Caja was born on January 20, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio. Raised in a strict Catholic family, Caja was one of 11 sons. He referred to his family as a family full of jocks, although he himself was a frail sickly child. Caja having been raised in a strict Catholic household was early on heavily influenced by the imagery of saints and martyrs. Sheree Rose (born 1941) is an American photographer and performance artist. She is best known for her collaborative work with performance artist Bob Flanagan, and her photography documenting a wide range of Los Angeles subcultures, especially in relation to BDSM and body modification. Early life Rose was raised in a Jewish family in Los Angeles. She was married in 1964, and she and her first husband both worked as teachers.
