The Elks Building in Olympia, Washington is a concrete building with a brick veneer that was built in 1919. It was built for the Elks local chapter that had been formed in 1891. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Olympia, Washington
Olympia is the capital of the U.S. state of Washington and the county seat and largest city of Thurston County. It is southwest of the state's most populous city, Seattle, and is a cultural center of the southern Puget Sound region. European settlers claimed the area in 1846, with the Treaty of Medicine Creek initiated in 1854, followed by the Treaty of Olympia in 1856. Joseph Henry Wohleb (1887–1958) was an American architect from Washington. Life and career He was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, and grew up in California. He is known for the design of classic motion picture theaters in the 1920s. He was also the designer of Cloverfields in Olympia, a farmhouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
