Elkington, Northamptonshire
Elkington is a hamlet and civil parish in the West Northamptonshire in England. The villages name means 'Elta's hill' or perhaps, less likely, ' swan hill'. The village was described as ''Elkynton'' and other variants in 1377, having 30 taxpayers over the age of 14. However, in 1412 the village is described as destitute of inhabitants save the seven who were servitors at Pipewell Abbey due to a pestilence believed to be the plague. Today there are no houses left in the village except a single remaining farm. Outlines of the village street can be seen from a survey taken from the air. Elkington, Lincolnshire
Elkington is a civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It comprises the village of South Elkington, and the hamlets of North Elkington, Boswell, and Thorpe, and is situated approximately north-west from the market town of Louth. South Elkington The parish church is a Grade II* listed building dedicated to All Saints, built using chalk, ironstone, and limestone, and dating from the 13th century, with a 15th-century font. The nave was rebuilt in 1843, and the chancel in 1873. The base and part of the shaft of a scheduled stone cross are in the churchyard. The cross is medieval in date and is constructed of limestone. Born in South Elkington was racing driver of the 1930s and 1940s, Charles Brackenbury. He operated a garage close to Brooklands Racetrack. Elkington Forest
Elkington Forest is a privately managed forest located at the southern boundary of the Cowichan Valley Regional District on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Sustainable development is intended for this property. In 2011, the entire parcel land was rezoned from F1 - Forestry to CLS - Community Land Stewardship zone, through which 85% of the land is designated for eco-forestry and conservation use, and 15% of the land is designated for a mix of agricultural uses and residential development. Under this zoning a majority of the residential density and agricultural uses were located on the southern or upland portions of the land. In 2011, Living Forest Communities, in partnership with the Canadian registered charity, the Trust for Sustainable Forestry purchased the southern half of the lands, and began to develop the lands.
