Elizabeth Parrish
Elizabeth "Betsy" Parrish (February 10, 1925 – December 16, 2022) was an American actress, singer and acting teacher. Career Parrish was long affiliated with the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Other teaching credits include: Circle in the Square, High School of Performing Arts, Metropolitan Opera Studio, Yale Drama School (Associate Professor Adjunct), American Academy of Dramatic Art, and the Eugene O'Neill International Theatre Institute. She was a founding member of the Harold Clurman Laboratory Theatre Company, having performed in ''Uncle Vanya'', ''Hot L Baltimore'', and ''Macbeth''. In 2004, she appeared in a one-woman New York musical revue, ''Moments of Being, with Betsy''. In 2019 and 2020, the nonagenarian Parrish performed her cabaret show, "Every Soul's a Cabaret", at, among other venues, the Martha's Vineyard Playhouse (Massachusetts) and the Pangea World Theater (Minneapolis, Minnesota), respectively. Johnny Johnson (musical)
''Johnny Johnson'' is a musical with a book and lyrics by Paul Green and music by Kurt Weill. It premiered in 1936 on Broadway. Based on Jaroslav Hašek's 1921–1923 satiric novel ''The Good Soldier Švejk'', the musical focuses on a naive and idealistic young man who, despite his pacifist views, leaves his sweetheart Minny Belle Tompkins to fight in Europe in World War I. He first tries to stop the war after meeting a young German sniper of the same name, who believes that the soldiers must unite. However, the commanders of the allied forces intend to use the discontent with the war among the German soldiers as a perfect time to advance in the war. Johnny then manages to bring the skirmish to a temporary halt by incapacitating a meeting of the generals with laughing gas, but once they recover they promptly reinstate the war, resulting in hundreds of thousands of fatalities.
