Elizabeth Glover
Elizabeth Glover ('' née'' Harris; 1602 – June 23, 1643) was responsible for bringing the first printing press to the Thirteen Colonies. She established a press in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she printed ''Oath of a Freeman'', ''An Almenack'', and the Bay Psalm Book with the help of printer Stephen Daye. She married Henry Dunster, first president of Harvard University. After Glover's death, the printing press was gifted to Harvard, thus beginning the Harvard University Press. Early life Little is known about Glover's early life. However, it is known that her father was Reverend Nathaniel Harris, who was "prominent in university and ecclesiastical circles", and that she had a brother, Richard Harris, who would follow her to America. Thomas Todd
Thomas Todd (January 23, 1765 – February 7, 1826) was an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1807 to 1826. Raised in the Colony of Virginia, he Read law, studied law and later participated in the founding of Kentucky, where he served as a clerk, judge, and justice. He was married twice and had a total of eight children. Todd joined the U.S. Supreme Court in 1807 and his handful of legal opinions there mostly concerned land claims. He was labeled the most insignificant U.S. Supreme Court justice by Frank H. Easterbrook in ''The Most Insignificant Justice: Further Evidence'', 50 U. Chi. L. Rev. 481 (1983). Elizabeth Underwood
Elizabeth Underwood (Harris, Lang) (1794 31 August 1858) in Norfolk Island, New South Wales, Australia, was a pioneering Australian land owner who founded the village (now a suburb) of Ashfield, New South Wales. She was the daughter of John Harris, an English-born ex-convict who had been sentenced to death for stealing eight silver spoons but was ultimately transported to Australia on the First Fleet. Her mother's identity isn't known for sure but she was probably also a convict. One biographer speculates her name was Mary Green and Elizabeth was actually born Elizabeth Green on 24 December. Neither parent played a significant part in her upbringing. Elizabeth Harris (1831 – June 12, 1891) served as a United States Sanitary Commission agent, army nurse, and newspaper correspondent during the American Civil War. She was active in the Eastern Theater of the American Civil War until September 1863, when she went to Tennessee for several months before returning to the east. Elizabeth Webber Harris (1834–1917) was an English nurse who was awarded a replica Victoria Cross (VC) in 1869, with the permission of Queen Victoria, for her bravery during a cholera outbreak in India. Grouper is the solo project of American musician, artist and producer Liz Harris (born July 15, 1980). She has released material on her own label and other independent labels since 2005.
