Elizabeth Burgoyne Corbett
Elizabeth Burgoyne Corbett (1846–1930), also known as Mrs George Corbett, was an English feminist writer, best known for her novel '' New Amazonia: A Foretaste of the Future'' (1889). Corbett worked as a journalist for the '' Newcastle Daily Chronicle'' and as a popular writer of adventure and society novels. Many of her novels originated as magazine serials and not published in book form. In June 1889, Mrs Humphry Ward's open letter "An Appeal Against Female Suffrage" was published in ''The Nineteenth Century'' with over a hundred other female signatories against the extension of Parliamentary suffrage to women. Inflamed by this "most despicable piece of treachery ever perpetrated towards women by women", Corbett wrote and published ''New Amazonia''. While ''New Amazonia'' was the most explicitly feminist of her novels, it was not the only one to deal with the position of women in society. Elizabeth Frances Corbett (September 30, 1887 – January 24, 1981) was an American writer of fiction, poems, and plays. Corbett was known for her contemporary and historical fiction novels. Her books were published from the 1910s throughout the 1970s. Liz Corbett
Elizabeth Lucy Corbett is a British epidemiologist who is Professor of Tropical Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Her research investigates the regulation of tuberculosis in HIV prevalent populations and improving access to HIV self-testing. Early life and education Corbett studied natural sciences at the University of Cambridge and graduated in 1985. She remained there for her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and completed her training in 1989. In 1992 Corbett completed her membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) before earning a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in 1996. She moved to the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine for her postgraduate research where she earned her PhD from the University of London in 2000.
