Elizabeth Anderton
Elizabeth Anderton (born 28 May 1938 in London) is a retired British ballet dancer and director. After graduating from the Sadler's Wells School, in 1955 she joined the Sadler's Wells Opera Ballet. From 1957 to 1974 she worked at the Royal Ballet, becoming soloist in 1958 and principal in 1961. In 1976 she became involved with London Festival Ballet English National Ballet is a classical ballet company founded by Dame Alicia Markova and Sir Anton Dolin as London Festival Ballet and based in London, England. Along with The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Northern Ballet and Scottish B ..., first as teacher and guest dancer and later as assistant artistic director (1979–83 and 1984–90). Sadler's Wells Theatre
Sadler's Wells Theatre is a performing arts venue in Clerkenwell, London, England located on Rosebery Avenue next to New River Head. The present-day theatre is the sixth on the site since 1683. The Two Pigeons
''The Two Pigeons'' (original French title: ''Les deux pigeons'') is a fable by Jean de la Fontaine (Book IX.2) that was adapted as a ballet with music by André Messager in the 19th century and rechoreagraphed to the same music by Frederick Ashton in the 20th. Fable La Fontaine ascribed the fable to the Persian author Bidpai and had found it in an abridged version titled "The Book of Enlightenment or the Conduct of Kings". The original is of some length, embroidered as it is with many an exquisite flower of rhetoric upon the trellis of its exposition. In essence it differs little from La Fontaine's abbreviated version.
