Elise Løvenskiold
Elise Løvenskiold (16 February 1844 – 15 January 1923) was a Norwegian court official. She served as the ''overhoffmesterinne'' for Queen Sophia of Norway. Elise Løvenskiold was the daughter of the Norwegian landowner baron Harald Wedel-Jarlsberg (1811–1897) and Elise Frederikke Butenschøn (1820–1868). She married landowner Carl Otto Løvenskiold in 1865. They were the parents of Harald Løvenskiold (1868–1934). Her spouse served as Norwegian Prime Minister in Stockholm in 1884. She was appointed principal lady-in-waiting to queen Sophie of Norway. The office had traditionally often been appointed to members of the Løvenskiold and Wedel-Jarlsberg families. During the Union of Sweden-Norway, the Royal family had a separate Norwegian court who met them at the border and served them during their visits to Norway, after which they escorted them to the Norwegian border, where they were met by their Swedish court again. Sophia Of Nassau
Sophia of Nassau (Sophia Wilhelmine Marianne Henriette; 9 July 1836 – 30 December 1913) was Queen of Sweden and Norway as the wife of King Oscar II. She was Queen of Sweden for 35 years, longer than anyone before her, and the longest-serving queen until 2011, when she was surpassed by Queen Silvia. She is also the most recent woman to have been officially Dowager Queen of Sweden. Early life Sophia was the youngest daughter of Wilhelm, Duke of Nassau, by his second wife Princess Pauline Friederike Marie of Württemberg. Her father died when she was three and was succeeded by her half-brother Adolphe, Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Carl Otto Løvenskiold
Carl Otto Løvenskiold (23 December 1839 – 1 October 1916) was a Norwegian naval officer, business executive and landowner. He served as the Norwegian prime minister in Stockholm during 1884. By birth, he is a member of Løvenskiold family, Løvenskiold noble family. Biography Løvenskiold was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway on 23 December 1839. He was the son of Otto Joachim Løvenskiold (1811-1882) and Julie Caroline Helene Wedel-Jarlsberg (1815-1840). His father was a Supreme Court of Norway, Supreme Court Attorney and mayor of Christiania. He attended Oslo Cathedral School, Christiania Cathedral School, became a sea cadet at Frederiksvern and a second lieutenant in the Royal Norwegian Navy in 1859. In 1868 Løvenskiold was promoted to first lieutenant. In 1875, he resigned from naval service. Ebba Aurora Ulrika Åkerhielm af Margaretelund (née Gyldenstolpe 1841–1913) was a Swedish court official. ''Skinnarbøl'' is a manor house and estate located east of the Norwegian city Kongsvinger. History Close to the Swedish border and Finnskogen, the estate lands have historically belonged to several families including the Swedish noble families Natt och Dag and Oxenstierna. The estate manor house, often referred to as ''Grenseslottet'' («The Border Palace»), was completed in 1849 and is decorated in Empire style. The manor was frequently used by King Oscar II and his wife Queen Sophia between 1892 and 1905. Queen Sophia's poor health often required her to use a wheelchair and she became particularly fond of the estate, as the manor house only had a single floor and large doorways. The Queen therefore often preferred spending her time in Norway at Skinnarbøl, while King Oscar would reside more at the Royal Palace in Oslo. Alethe "Alette" Wilhelmine Georgine Due, née ''Sibbern'' (28 February 1812, Værne Kloster – 7 May 1887, Oslo), was a Norwegian singer, composer and courtier. She was an honorary member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and served as Overhoffmesterinne for Queen Sophia of Norway in 1873–1887. Marie Magdalena "Lillemor" Rustad (21 December 1859 – 22 June 1943), was a Norwegian court official. She served as the ''Overhoffmesterinne'' for Queen Maud of Norway.
