Elisabeth L. Engebretsen
Elisabeth Lund Engebretsen (born 23 September 1973) is a Norwegian anthropologist and gender studies scholar. She is a full professor of gender studies at the University of Stavanger and a Visiting Senior Fellow at the London School of Economics. Career Engebretsen earned a cand.mag. in Chinese and anthropology at the University of Oslo in 1997, a master's degree in gender studies at the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2000, a master's degree in anthropology at LSE in 2003 and a PhD in anthropology at LSE in 2008. She has also studied Chinese at universities in China, where she has lived for extended periods. Her dissertation advisers were Henrietta Moore and Charles Stafford. She was a senior lecturer in gender studies at the University of Oslo until she became an associate professor of gender studies at the University of Stavanger in 2018. The University of Stavanger (Norwegian: ''Universitetet i Stavanger,'' UiS) is a university located in Stavanger, Norway. UiS was established in 2005 when the former Stavanger University College (''Høgskolen i Stavanger''; HiS) received university status. Henrietta Moore
Dame Henrietta Louise Moore, (born 18 May 1957) is a British social anthropologist. She is the director of the Institute for Global Prosperity at University College, London (UCL), part of the Bartlett, UCL's Faculty of the Built Environment. Early life Moore graduated from Durham University with an upper second in Archaeology and Anthropology in 1979. She continued her studies at Newnham College, Cambridge, completing a PhD in 1983. Career After leaving university Moore spent one year working for the United Nations in Burkina Faso as a Field Director. She then became a Curatorial Assistant at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, University of Cambridge before joining the University of Kent as a Lecturer in Social Anthropology in 1985. Charles Stafford (anthropologist)
Charles Stafford (born 6 November 1956) is Professor of Anthropology at the London School of Economics; he is also one of the co-founders of the LSE’s Programme in Culture & Cognition. Stafford specialises in the social anthropology of China and Taiwan. His research projects and scholarly publications have focused primarily on child development, learning, schooling, kinship, religion and the psychology of economic life. In July 2018 he was elected Fellow of the British Academy (FBA). Research Stafford’s first major fieldwork project was conducted in the late 1980s in a Taiwanese fishing community where he examined, among other things, the sometimes tense relationship between nationalist schooling and local popular culture. The Norwegian Organisation for Sexual and Gender Diversity (Norwegian: ''FRI – foreningen for kjønns- og seksualitetsmangfold'') is the oldest, largest and preeminent Norwegian member organization representing the interests of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex persons in Norway. It originated as the Norwegian branch of the Danish Circle of 1948 (now LGBT Danmark) in 1949 and later became an independent organization. It was Norway's first gay rights organization, and campaigned against the criminalization of sexual relations between men (sexual relations between women were never criminalized because women were then not considered to have an independent sexuality).
