Eliott Rodriguez
Eliott Rodriguez (born June 6, 1956, in New York City) is a Cuban-American television journalist who has received two Emmy Awards and four Edward R. Murrow Awards. Early life and education Rodriguez was born in 1956 to Cuban immigrant parents in The Bronx, New York City. After graduating from the University of Miami, he began his journalism career as a reporter at ''The Miami News'' before becoming a reporter at WTVJ-Channel 4. Career After 2½ years, Rodriguez left Channel 4 for a reporting job at WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, where he also anchored the morning news. In 1987, he returned to Miami to take up a weekend co-anchor and general assignment reporter at WPLG-Channel 10 and remained there for 11 years. Rodriguez appeared in the 1996 film '' Up Close and Personal'', playing the part of a television news reporter. ''Up Close & Personal'' is a 1996 American romantic drama film directed by Jon Avnet, and starring Robert Redford as a news director and Michelle Pfeiffer as his protégée, with Stockard Channing, Joe Mantegna, and Kate Nelligan in supporting roles. The screenplay began as an adaptation of ''Golden Girl: The Story of Jessica Savitch'', a 1988 book by Alanna Nash that recounted the troubled life of American news anchor Jessica Savitch. WPLG (channel 10) is a television station in Miami, Florida, United States, affiliated with ABC. The station is owned by Berkshire Hathaway as its sole broadcast property. WPLG's studios are located on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard in Pembroke Park, and its transmitter is located in Miami Gardens, Florida. WPLG signed on the air as WLBW-TV on November 20, 1961, as the replacement for WPST-TV, which was forced off the air by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) following the revelation of bribery undertaken with one of the commissioners to secure that station's license.
