Elinor Norton
''Elinor Norton'' is a 1934 American drama film directed by Hamilton MacFadden and written by Rose Franken and Philip Klein. It is based on the 1933 novel, ''The State versus Elinor Norton'' by Mary Roberts Rinehart. The film stars Claire Trevor, Gilbert Roland, Henrietta Crosman, Hugh Williams and Norman Foster. The film was released on November 2, 1934, by Fox Film Corporation. Synopsis While Elinor Norton's jealous husband Tony is away serving in trenches in World War I, she encounters the charming Brazilian Rene Alba who falls in love with her. Hamilton MacFadden
Hamilton MacFadden (April 26, 1901 – January 1, 1977) was an American actor, screenwriter and film director. MacFadden's parents were Rev. Robert A. MacFadden and Edith Hamilton MacFadden. His father died in 1909, leaving his mother to support herself and four children. In 1928, she became the first woman to file papers to run for governor of Massachusetts. MacFadden was a 1925 graduate of Harvard University. Soon after graduating, he became producer of the American Theatre Company, which presented plays for 10 weeks in the Boston area. The project was backed by Michael Strange, a writer who made her professional stage debut in the productions. He also served as director of the Community Arts Association in Santa Barbara, California, and the Theatre Guild School of Acting in New York. Caryl Lincoln (November 16, 1903 – February 20, 1983) was an American film actress whose career spanned from 1927 to 1964. Biography The Oakland, California-born Lincoln started her acting career in silent films. In 1927, she signed a long-term contract with Fox Film studios. Her first film was ''Slippery Silks'' in 1927. She starred in ten films from 1927 to the end of 1928 and was selected as a WAMPAS Baby Star in 1929. Polly Ann Young (October 25, 1908 – January 21, 1997) was an American actress. Biography Young was born in Denver, Colorado. Actresses Loretta Young and Sally Blane were her sisters. From 1917 to 1941, she was featured in over 40 movies, some of them minor, uncredited roles. Among her more notable movie roles was as John Wayne's leading lady in ''The Man from Utah'' (1934). Her last film was the Poverty Row horror movie ''Invisible Ghost'' with Bela Lugosi in 1941. Young married Carter Hermann on February 5, 1936, and they had four children. Marion Helen Schilling (December 3, 1910 – November 6, 2004) was an American stage and film actress. She was one of the most famous " B" leading ladies of the 1930s. Biography Marion Helen Schilling was born in Denver, Colorado in 1910. Her family moved to St. Louis when she was young. She graduated from Central High School there in 1928. Jean Fenwick (born Sigfreda Harriet Krauth; May 30, 1907 — December 5, 1998) was an American actress born in Trinidad. Early life Fenwick was born in Trinidad in 1907, the older sister of Violet Ethelred Krauth (who became actress Marian Marsh) and Anthony Edward Krauth (who also acted, under the name "Tony Marsh"). Their parents, Leo Krauth and Harriet Morgan Krauth, ran a chocolate factory. During World War I the Krauths moved to Boston, Massachusetts. Lucile Ruth Browne (March 18, 1907 – May 10, 1976) was an American film actress. She starred opposite John Wayne in the 1935 films '' Texas Terror'' and '' Rainbow Valley''. Personal life The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harris L. Browne, she was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1923.
