Eline Jongsma
Eline Jongsma is a Dutch film director and artist. She is one half of the filmmaking duo Jongsma + O’Neill alongside Kel O'Neill. Life and career At 16, Jongsma served as a model for a photo in Andres Serrano’s “History of Sex” series. She studied photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and exhibited her photographic work at the Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam. Jongsma began collaborating with husband Kel O'Neill in 2006 while attending an artist residency in Prishtina, Kosovo. The two served as the two-person directorial and production crew of ''Empire'', a series of non-fiction video installations about the traces of Dutch colonialism in ten different countries. The project’s world premiere took place at The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in 2012 and its US premiere took place at Lincoln Center as part of the New York Film Festival in 2013. Kel O'Neill
Kel O’Neill is an American film director, artist, and actor. He is one half of the filmmaking duo Jongsma + O’Neill alongside Eline Jongsma. Life and career Kel O’Neill grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. Both of his parents were officers in the US Army, and met while serving together in Vietnam. O’Neill made his acting debut in 2002’s ''XX/XY'', directed by Austin Chick and starring Mark Ruffalo and Kathleen Robertson. He later played roles in ''Easier With Practice'', ''Stephanie Daley'', and Brian De Palma’s 2007 war drama ''Redacted''. In 2007 he was hired to play the character of Eli Sunday in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ''There Will Be Blood'', but was fired two weeks in production and replaced by Paul Dano. Andres Serrano
Andres Serrano (born August 15, 1950) is an American photographer and artist. His work, often considered transgressive art, includes photos of corpses and uses feces and bodily fluids. His '' Piss Christ'' (1987) is a red-tinged photograph of a crucifix submerged in a glass container of what was purported to be the artist's own urine. He also created the artwork for the heavy metal band Metallica's '' Load'' and '' Reload'' albums. Early life Serrano was born in New York City on August 15, 1950. He is from a half Honduran, half Afro-Cuban background, and was raised a strict Roman Catholic. The Gerrit Rietveld Academie, also known as Rietveld School of Art & Design and Rietveld Academy, is an art academy in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Foam or Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam is a photography museum located at the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The museum has four different exhibitions at any given time in which different photographic genres are shown, such as documentary, art and fashion. Next to large exhibitions by well-known photographers, Foam also shows the work of young and upcoming photographers, in shorter running exhibitions. International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) is the world's largest documentary film festival held annually since 1988 in Amsterdam. Over a period of twelve days, it has screened more than 300 films and sold more than 250,000 tickets. Visitors to the festival have increased from 65,000 in 2000 to 285,000 in 2018. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States.
