Elijah Litana
Elijah Litana (born 5 December 1970) is a Zambian former professional association football, footballer who played as a defender (association football), defender. He was part of the Zambia national football team, Zambia national team that reached the final in the 1994 African Nations Cup. Litana spent five seasons with Al-Hilal FC, Al-Hilal, helping the club win the 1995–96 Saudi Premier League. He was sidelined from playing football after a firearm accident in July 2000. In the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield position whose primary role is to stop attacks during the game and prevent the opposition from scoring. Centre-backs are usually positioned in pairs, with one full-back on either side to their left and right, but can be played in threes with or without full-backs. Defenders fall into four main categories: centre-back, sweeper, full-back, and wing-back. The centre-back and full-back positions are essential in most modern formations. The sweeper and wing-back roles are more specialised for certain formations dependent on the manager's style of play and tactics. Roan United is a Zambian football club based in Luanshya, in the Zambian Premier League and mostly successful during the early years of Zambian football. Indeed, they were the inaugural winners of the ZPL, clinching what was then called the Northern Rhodesia National Football League in 1962. They play their home matches at Kafubu Stadium.
