Eli Goldschmidt
Eli Goldschmidt ( he, אלי גולדשמידט, born 17 October 1953) is a former Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for One Israel and the Labor Party between 1992 and 2001. Biography Born in Tel Aviv, Goldschmidt studied law at Tel Aviv University, where he gained an MA before working as a lawyer. He was first elected to the Knesset on the Labor Party list in 1992 and chaired the House Committee and the Joint Committee for the Knesset Budget during his first term. After being re-elected in 1996 he chaired the Economic Affairs Committee. Mordechai "Motti" Mishani ( he, מרדכי "מוטי" משעני, 10 April 1945 – 9 April 2013) was an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for One Israel and Gesher between 2001 and 2003. Gesher (political Party)
Gesher ( he, גֶּשֶׁר, ' Bridge), officially the Gesher National Social Movement (, ''Gesher – Teno'a Hevratit Le'umit''), was a political party in Israel between 1996 and 2003. It formed when David Levy led a split from the Israeli center-right party Likud. Gesher helped to form coalition governments led by both Likud and the left-wing Labor Party, but never gained significant power. The party was eventually disbanded as Levy returned to Likud. In 2019, David Levy's daughter, Orly Levy set up a similar party named Gesher, which advocates for many of the same policies supported by her father.
